I really like that stave shelf.  Don't think I could justify it for my 4 bottles though

What do people have for a cabinet?

Would be nice to have something to display my collection.

Built this for the in-laws last year. Hoping to build one for myself at somepoint. Put shelves and lights inside.

I'm more of a vodka drinker but I occasionally drink Wisers deluxe.

I enjoy the taste of it but know it's cheap/not special

Knowing I like Wisers where should I go from here?

I have never tried Wisers but I would start cheap and build out.

Dirty cheap is Turkey but everyone loves Buffalo Trace and that's not bad.

Balvenie is delicious and everyone likes it but she's on the pricey side.

Huh I'm suprised you haven't.

so from what I can tell wisers is a Canadian heavy corn whiskey

I know I've had whiskeys I haven't liked before but I'm not sure on if they were corn/rye etc

Rightfully or wrongfully I mostly stay away from Canadian whisky. It's not good or bad I just haven't explored there yet.

If Wisers is corn based go to bourbon. Look for bourbon with higher corn.

Could you give any reason why you haven't? or maybe why it's not high on your list of things to do

Any recommendations? for bourbon.

Gonna ask a stupid question here

whats makes bourbon bourbon?

Sure I could google it but whats the fun in that

That's a good question I don't know why I haven't. I never drank hard stuff before always beer. My buddy offered me Bulleit 10 year and I loved it so I started drinking it.

I then learned Bulleit was a bourbon so I started drinking bourbon and then branched out into scotch. Haven't gone any further yet.

Some people don't think highly of Canadian whisky because they don't have tight rules.

I am no expert but bourbon must be 51% corn, can only be produced in the US, I think it needs new oak barrels and 3 year minimum barrel life?

Buffalo Trace is a great started. Turkey is cheaper but has more bite. Can't go wrong with Makers Mark either.

Canadian whiskey tends to be sweeter?

I call them sugar water but it's kind of like saying Coors tastes like a warm bath. Some people love Coors.

If you ask me my favorite beer is free and my second favorite is cold. There's a beer and whisky for every occasion.

Higher corn content usually means sweeter.

If you enjoy wisers you could venture out to other Ryes.

I am not the biggest Rye fan myself.  I prefer the malts in Irish.

You just have to find what you prefer pallet wise.  Theres such variety out there, its fun to try.  I will never turn down a glass of whiskey no matter style.
