5Fivehole0
Stop with the rebuild threads, the Canucks are too good for a rebuild currently... In a slump, they are still contending for a play-off spot and in all likely hood are going to make it. Right now we are missing Tortorella, Santorelli, Henrik Sedin, Kevin Bieksa, Chris Tanev, Yannick Weber?, Andrew Alberts. We are looking like this (I will put a number next to what line they should be) Sedin1 Schroeder2/3 Burrows2/3 Higgins2 Kesler1/2 Kassian2/3 Booth3 Richardson3 Hansen3/4 Sestito4 Dalpe4 Weise4 Edler1/2 Garrison2 Hamhuis1/2 Stanton 2/3 ________CorradoAHL So I am not fully dissapointed with the slump we are in because once we get our guys back out there, barring Santorelli, we look pretty good Sedin1 Sedin1 Burrows 2/3 Higgins2 Kesler1/2 Schroeder2/3 Booth3 Richardson3 Kassian2/3 Sestito4 Dalpe4 Weber4 Edler1/2 Garrison2 Hamhuis1/2 Tanev2 Bieksa2 Stanton2/3 Now, to break this down into a rebuild, the only players you would really see moved are Burrows Hansen Booth Edler Garrison Bieksa Weber Weise Sedin Sedin Kassian Higgins Kesler Schroeder ______Richardson _______ Sestito Dalpe _______ Hamhuis Tanev _______ Stanton _______ Corrado The rest are too good or too young and promising the trade Then next year you would have some of your prospects emerge. Sedin Sedin Kassian Schroeder Kesler Shinkaruk Santorelli Horvat Jensen Sestito Richardson Archibald Hamhuis Tanev ______ Stanton ______ Corrado So really... you're rebuilding a D-Core and a 3rd liner... This team is going to rebuild within and only do a minor retooling... what will happen is probably losing Booth and shaking up the defensive core to acquire a sniper. Sedin Sedin Sniper Schroeder Kesler Kassian Higgins Horvat Santorelli Sestito Richardson Hansen Archibald Dalpe Hamhuis Tanev Garrison Stanton Bieksa Corrado Alberts People need to calm down and realize that the Canucks are not ready for a rebuild, and won't be for a long time. Nicklas Bo Hunter
the problem is we are getting too old. Sedins just keep going down hill. Kesler has not been the same player since the cup run. Its time for new faces. And yes it is time for a re-build or re- tool what ever you wanna call it. If we don't do it now in 5 years we will have our top players leaving the league and no young players to take over.
Peter Gunn
I think unloading 8 players (4 core) and bringing in a sniper would be classified as a rebuild, wouldn't you say.
slappipappi
I think unloading 8 players (4 core) and bringing in a sniper would be classified as a rebuild, wouldn't you say. I see Burrows and Edler gone, who are the other 2 core players? But a rebuild is moving older regressing players for young players with potential who are still improving. Quoted
They were slumping just as badly with those players in the line- up. Two first round play off exits in a row says to me there is a lot more wrong than the current slump.
MJDDawg
Are they too good? Nope. They are who we thought they were. This slump, as you call it, has lasted for almost three seasons. Oh sure it's been masked by winning the dreaded Northwest Division the last couple of years, but we've basically been swept in the first round of the last two playoffs. So call them what you want, but they are not "too good".
Coconuts
We don't need a rebuild, you're right. We do need a re-tool though. This team does have it's problems, and it is aging. Now would be a good time to re-tool.
LeanBeef
D. Sedin should be 2/
RyanKeslord17
Higgins is a 3 on a good team. So he should be 3 here if we want to claim we are comfortably making the playoffs

Tystick
Exactly, we need to add more not rebuild. I'm not opposed to rebuilding, but at this point we still have a window. Once Horvat, Shinkaruk, Guance, etc come in and we sign some effective players in the offseason we have a legitimate shot.
Jiggs50
It's more of a quick retool job than a complete rebuild. Need to get younger bigger and faster...
thad
Higgins is a 3 on a good team. So he should be 3 here if we want to claim we are comfortably making the playoffs Take a look at his company in the 30-35 point range. Higgins is a top six player and doing well there. He's not high end top six talent but he's consistently producing at a second line pace.
