Mustapha
So what exactly is Jensen right... now? He's a young player called up from Utica due to injuries.
Nino
"We can't take a night off, we have to play every game like it's our last" - Matthias Starting to love this guy, think he's going to be great in the playoffs. He got better when the game was on the line.
Canuck Surfer
One key observation is this was what we migh look like without Kesler? As much as we lost; Mathias and Schroeder picked up the ice time. So lets review that.- Hard not to notice that Schroeder fumbled and gave away the puck without too much pressure, coming out of our end, at least 3 times in the first period. Need to be solid on the puck! The commentators picked on him for shooting once early when he had guys flying up ice, versus moving the puck around. I'm ok with a shot to get in the game. Those points said, his game as a whole was positive. It is Washington, who leaves a lot of space, and Schroeder / Booth / Kassian used it! Schroeder got the one goal and they looked like if something clicked they could have had a cpl more. The extra offensive shifts looked good on them! Maybe this trio just need more offensive shifts???- My opinion was we outplayed Washington. What were the shots; 41 or something to roughly 22?- Lets take the high road and say we were unlucky not to win.
Canuck Surfer
Schroeder, Matthias, and Jensen combine for 13 shots and 3 goals. where's the core???Danny and Kesler, our shot leaders up front are injured dude.

DeNiro
The Canucks held them to no shots until halfway through the third and then get scored on the Caps first shot of the period.Isn't that just the story of the Canucks this season? I've never seen a team catch so many bad breaks.
viking mama
When was the last time Lack got a game off....not EVEN for the "Heritage Classic"? Torts has been riding Lack... just as hard as he's been over-deploying some of the others. Markstrom needs to go in there. The charge is over. Playing for pride, now...& future roster spots - if they want to be here. If they don't ....well.....we might end up seeing a little of that, too. Henrik Kesler
This young man Jensen is going to be one hell of a player. I can't wait to see him with a fully healthy Henrik after another off season of training. I'm going to laugh so hard at all those in the "Jensen's a bust" and the "Sedins are done" campls when he pots 30+ and rejuvinates the Sedin line. Darius
Thoughts.-Average goaltending. Not blaming him for the loss, just calling it as it is.- Mathias and Jensen looked good. Why hasnt Jensen been called up earlier instead of guys like Lain andArchibald?- Kassian has good vision of the ice, he made several nice passes. Nice assist.- Garrison was given the contract because he has a bomb from the point (supposedly). V didnt use him on the first unit PP, and now Torts has pulled him off of the first unit PP. Horrible accuracy especially when he needs to one time it. He always has to stop the puck first, which gives the defenders and the zamboni driver time to setup and block. Big disappointment per dollar.-If this team trades kesler they will need a face off specialist. I think if they can get 2 young impact roster players for Kesler they should do it. Guy does many things great, but also is a little selfish, he wrists the puck over the net and out the other way half a dozen times a game, and seems like a guy that isnt too personable.- If this team gets a top 6 or 7 pick this year they will set themselves up nicely. Horvat and Guance coming up, Kassian and Jensen continue to improve, Mathias could be that third line center this team has been sorely missing. Add a couple bright young players for Kesler and they will turn this around in quick fashion.
viking mama
I love this team to death, I love the Sedins, Kesler, Hamhius, Bieksa, you have guys like Kesler who is who is gotten into injuries by blocking shots! (last year foot, this year Hands olympics), but honestly... there's really no point, in a long term point of view, this years draft they say is not very deep, after doing some following, it's not "weak" as we think, whatever we want? it's available, this draft is almost structured in that manner, that said... they are better off with a top 10 pick, then a pick in the teens. This season is really that lost, Daniel Sedin, Kesler is gone, Santerolli, the list goes on, even if we do come in 8th, we will probably get rocked in 4. Richardson is another stud who's injured...& Alberts may be out of hockey.
fagin
Jensen continues to impress me. ... And so does Shawn Matthias. Hansen has been a no-show basically all year so a HIG-MAT-SAN (if we sign Santorelli) would be one of the best 3rd lines in the league. These 3 guys are all hustle! At least I hope this is who Matthias really is. So what exactly is Jensen right... now? Hopefully after Kes is traded it's the Canucks 2nd line and if he isn't it can still be out 2nd line. He is capable of replacing top-line guys in roles like Danny & Kes'. The others 9lain. Archibald) were aquired for different roles. You still have to play or sit guys you can't move down to the farm. With LTIR designations for both Kes & Danny...the Jensen call-up was easier to make. Lain & Archibald were replacing 3rd & 4th liners. If Jensen had been been called-up...post-Olympics...would things be any different now, you ask?? Well, there were tough teams to face, back then ...they played the "short-on-defense" Caps - tonight. I might ask....if the Nucks are truly done for this year...why not let Jensen help Utica with their far more impressive come-from-behind push for the play-offs... in the AHL? 'Cuz the Comets are statistically the hotter team... right now...& could definitely surprise a few teams in the post-season...if fully stocked. Fanaholic
I feel so bad for our boys that they lost this one. It certainly wasn't for a lack ofeffort and for once they looked like they had offense. Maybe TORTS has finally learnedto play 4 lines. Too bad he didn't do that all year. Giving guys a chance to connect as a unit and not burning out the top line - well maybe the outcome for some of those 1-0games would have been different. I can take the losing as long as I am entertained.I think if I were at this game I would have had a great time just "screaming" for a goal. BURR was so close to being the saviour again.Might be too little too late for this year but the future does look a littlebetter.I didn't see the first period so not sure how they played but saw periods two andthree.
