Recommended Posts

lol he wouldn't sign in colorado for 6 per....that was the most col tried to get him for... for us to take him it would be 7-8 mill i am sure about that... some teams might throw 9-10mill...

Think Nashville will go all in for him.

They need someone to get the puck to Neal, Stastny would be perfect.

Neal - Stastny - _____

_____ - Wilson - Forsberg

Bourque - Fisher - Stalberg

Nystrom - Cullen - Clune

They have the cap space to retool their top six.

Well yeah, but their ownership doesn't usually spend to the cap

Overrated and will be HIGHLY over payed due to the lack of center/top offensive depth in this UFA class.

As people have said before Nate and Gabe showed up he was pretty quiet.

Needs good players around him to put up big numbers isn't a game changer himself.

I bet he gets 7-8 million long term.

I'm assuming he'll receive 7-8 million but we could be in for a surprise. Free agents have been showered with money in recent years. I really don't mind spending our space on Stastny and Ehrhoff but it looks like Miller's on his way here.

Overrated

Curious what you base this upon.

Stastny faced the strongest quality of competiton among Avalanche forwards.

He also had the best underlying numbers.

He had less than 50% offensive zone starts (46.7%) and scored 60 points.

26th in the NHL in points per 60 minutes.

He was 54.1% in the faceoff circle - top 25 in the NHL.

+15 takeaways/giveaways.

Just plain outstanding two way player.

Wondering what it takes to be 'rated'.

Toronto or Nashville should make a very decent push to sign this guy. Personally I hope the Leafs do get him so that the Canucks wouldn't have to deal with him. Unless however Benning pulls a Benning and "deals" Stastny.

I never said he wasn't a good player.

He is overrated for the big pay day he is about to receive.

For a player who is still under a PPG he is being made out to be like one of the top centers out there.

He is a great top 6 player but there is no way I would have him on my team as a 1C.

Yes that is just my opinion.

5.5? I doubt he goes for anywhere near that. I bet he gets 6.5 minimum... likely 7.

At 5.5, I'd be in on him for Vancouver as well. Add Iginla for 6 and Moulson for 4.

Sedin Sedin Iginla

Moulson Stastny Burrows

Higgins Bonino Hansen

Sestito Richardson Dorsett

.. In my opinion, that's a very (very) good forward lineup. Our d is solid already. Our only question mark would be goaltending which may or may not turn out to be an issue at all.
