TMZ Releases Ray Rice Footage

Yep. See what happens when you step into an elevator?

(Most women don't need to be taught not to hang around abusive guys in the 21st century, most women also don't need to be told not to take pictures of their genitals and hold them on a smartphone for them to be taken and distributed -- reality is an effective way of teaching lessons when people refuse to learn them otherwise)

Sterling brought the US back to the days of slavery. Rice just brought it down to Chicago. Therefore Sterling = way worse.

they didn't hold them on their phone, they were deleted from the phone, but the phone uploaded it to the cloud already. it was the cloud that was hacked, not their individual phones...

That doesn't change the point of my post. Uploading feline pix on the internet is even worse. In the 21st century why would someone even need to be told this is a dumb idea?

Obviously none of Jennifer Lawrence's advisers warned her of the dangers of having naked photos of herself on her own phone (presuming she really wanted no one to see them), never mind putting them on the internet, whether giving out the address to it or putting it on a cloud the world still can get access to.

again, they didn't know it was automatically being backed up into the cloud, the vast majority of i-phone users don't even know that function exists, never mind that it's enabled.

and i doubt her advisors knew she had taken those pics... unless she sent them to them...

I would imagine their advisers help them with PR, and a big part of PR for a celebrity is private life. It's also good legalese that if she wanted to distribute nudes to Nicholas Hoult or whoever, perhaps she should use a camera that has no internet access and hand him the SD card (surely they saw each other personally sometimes) so he can wank to it internet-free.

When someone takes nudes of themselves and doesn't have any idea where it's being stored, it's probably a good idea not to take any with that device then.

There's so much common sense that's being ignored, there's little reason as to why one should think of J-law as a victim here when she's committed so many cardinal sins of privacy.

The more one doesn't want someone else to get their hands on nudes, the more care they should be taking to ensure their crap doesn't wind up all over the internet. So I will reiterate.. some people just have to learn the hard way.

Of course, this has little to do with the person in this topic.

Ray Rice has been known to be abusive. Stay with an abusive guy, wind up getting your ass kicked. Perhaps now she knows to stay away from the guy.

The Baltimore Ravens have released running back Ray Rice on Monday after a video that appears to show Rice striking his then-fiancee in an elevator last February was released by TMZ.

The grainy video, released by TMZ Sports, apparently shows Rice and Janay Palmer in an elevator at an Atlantic City casino. Each hits the other before Rice knocks Palmer off her feet and into a railing.

The NFL says the league never saw the video until Monday.

An earlier TMZ video showed Rice dragging Palmer, now his wife, from the elevator at the Revel casino, which closed Sept. 2.

The NFL suspended Rice for two games in July for domestic violence.

"We requested from law enforcement any and all information about the incident, including the video from inside the elevator," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said. "That video was not made available to us and no one in our office has seen it until today."

Likewise, the Ravens said they had not seen it until now. Senior vice-president Kevin Byrne said the team had no comment.

Rice's lawyer, Michael Diamondstein, would not comment to The Associated Press.

The 27-year-old Rice was charged with felony aggravated assault in the case, but in May he was accepted into a pre-trial intervention program that allowed him to avoid jail time and could lead to the charge being purged from his record.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell drew criticism for not being tough enough. In a letter to all 32 NFL owners in August, he wrote, "My disciplinary decision led the public to question our sincerity, our commitment, and whether we understood the toll that domestic violence inflicts on so many families. I take responsibility both for the decision and for ensuring that our actions in the future properly reflect our values."

"I didn't get it right," he added. "Simply put, we have to do better. And we will."

First-time offenders now face a six game suspension.

Rice began his suspension Sunday, when the Ravens opened their season with a 23-16 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. He will also miss Thursday night's game against Pittsburgh. According to the terms of his suspension, Rice can't be with the team and must work out alone.

Rice hasn't spoken often to the media since his arrest, but on July 31 called his actions "inexcusable" and said this is "something I have to live with the rest of my life."

He added: "I know that's not who I am as a man. That's not who my mom raised me to be. If anybody knows me, they know I was raised by a single parent, and that was my mother. I let her down, I let my wife down, I let my daughter down. I let my wife's parents down. I let the whole Baltimore community down. I let my teammates down. I let so many people down because of 30 seconds of my life that I know I can't take back."

Good on Baltimore, apparently the NFL saw the video before handing out the 2 game suspension, and if that's true, this is a huge black eye for the Commish and the entire NFL.

Apparently this gem is worth your time. Thanks for participating.

because everyone on earth thinks about that at all times...

I thought we were talking about specific celebrities like J-law, not "everyone on earth". I do appreciate the straw man though. Definitely shows how exaggerated one has to get to try and make it seem like they have a good argument.

Can't you expect some privacy in elevators? Do all elevators have cameras? And isn't it invasion of privacy to capture you on camera?

i think they are actually called public elevators so I dont think you'd be able to argue that you can't be filmed .

dont expect to get away with anything while riding one .. truth is ,now there are cameras everywhere ..

Janay Rice says she deeply regrets the role that she played the night of the incident.

Apparently blame the victim is the name of the game. I can't believe they tweeted that, I feel like it might be fake, but I'll check.

I am surprised this isn't getting talked about more. What a pathetic angle to take. Fine the organization with all proceeds going to charities that combat domestic violence.

no, you can't expect any privacy in a public elevator. every single one would have a camera in them nowadays for security purposes. no more elevator love making Don Lever.

How can they punish him again for something they already punished him for? He will have a fight here for sure.

Double Jeopardy anyone?

Ray Rice was never punished by the Ravens, at least not publicly. The NFL is saying they should've been harder, so clearly they're unable to suspend him twice (the players' association wouldn't stand for that). Terminating a contract for this kind of behaviour is completely justified. The problem is that Baltimore probably knew everything and only cut Rice because they wanted avoid the REALLY bad PR.
