These changes were long overdue!

The process has begun, JB is transforming this team, it won't happen overnight but a good start only one year in.

Wish we could've gotten better return in a couple of moves, and it's frustrating watching some of the Big young D-men get moved while we continue to starve for one, but timing is everything and it seems for some reason our players or their contracts are not valued around the league.

Sure hope JB makes a move where we end up looking like we won a trade, so far he's had to pay a premium to get the players he's targeted.

We still need another big forward and a big D-man, we're too small, it's too bad we didn't trade Kassian sooner before the back and his immaturity tanked his value. Coulda, shouda, woulda, sure hope he doesn't come back to haunt us.

Baertschi for a 2nd was a steal. Just you watch. Also we definitely won with Sutter.

There's been no shortage of criticism over the recent changes but in defense of management, they were necessary..

A half dozen years or so of watching the Canucks get slapped around like little kids when the zebras pocket the whistles in the playoffs have a left a bad taste in everybody's mouths. It's no surprise that Benning and Trevor are finally addressing this festering wound we've had for years.

Watching one wrecking ball by the name of Ferland dismantle the entire team was too painful too watch and really underscored how bad it had gotten. It was like nobody knew how to respond in kind so they wound up in the box with a penalty. It seems the zebra's will let some serious fouls go (charging!) but the slightest retaliation gets a hand in the air.

Thank god were finally addressing this!

It's not like there wasn't some pushback during those years, even some response in kind, but yeah, we definitely got called for it when our opponents did only occasionally. We'll see if the new lineup has an "initiating" as opposed to "retaliating" MO. I'm not taking that to the bank just yet. And if it does, we'll see how the refs react. I'm definitely not expecting even-handed treatment if we do. Fact is there's only so much compensating you can do with your lineup for officiating that ignores the rules. Bieksa took the "toughness" approach to the Ferland problem and it wasn't successful. Another approach would be to load up on PMD instead of "sandpaper" and demand better puck support from the forwards to simply outmanouevre that kind of forecheck. Clearly we're not taking that route. To me, Benning's doing the same thing again and expecting a different result, but again, we'll see.

why is higgins, hansen and Burrows still here? If you are talking about change than make the complete change and how does Prust give us a edge over Ferlund? lol Sutter is not a hitter dude, OMG Ferlund was a non-factor against the Ducks, the solution to a guy who charges is quick defence who get the puck out.

?

Pleas change your Username to "Chicken Little" so the readers can be prepared for your 'Sky is falling" posts. Higgins . Hansen and burrows are all here because they serve specific purposes of PK, good forechecking capabilities and veteran leadership. You don't completely strip team of all of its veterans and you certainly don't lose these three when you want hardworking examples for your younger players. These three aren't always effective offensively but I rarely see them take a night off defensively.

The Canucks defense has no skill, size or speed. Boston and LA Stanley Cup teams had the size and some skilled defensemen.

Chicago has the big three. Dallas has huge defensemen in their prospect system. We are the hobbits of the west.

Benning had a chance to trade for one of Pittsburgh surplus defensemen - Simon Despres.-6'4",214 lbs The Ducks got him.

We need a few like him: size, skates, hits, point producer. He will be a top 4 D for the Ducks for years.

As do we- Pedan and Trymakin.
