CDC Puck 2017/18

Rangers off to a slow start. Already without Ellis, then Granlund, Caggiula, and Foligno go down. Can't keep relying on Kuznetsov and Kane and expect to compete.

Forsberg the only goalie with any points. Defence is doing alright though.

Looking to do a 2 for 1 deal. Have Ryan (playing with Burns) and Folin available on D, Karlsson, Ward, Hansen at forward. Forwards could be dealt to RL contenders at TDL if the Sharks continue on their current path.

Pretty good start, we're very happy.  Did not expect to be ahead of ( always over-discussed :P ) SV in tops overall last week really. Things settled down and that's ok.

Even happier with some of the depth coming;

Nikita Scherback > 6 points in 4 games in the AHL.

Mark Jankowski > 4 goals and 5 points in 3 AHL games & playing pivot. Also a good 2 way player.

Im a bit surprised these guys, MJ in particular, are not already playing NHL games already. But with any injury or anomaly, they should be.

Others are developing nicely. Might we have been routed in a recent trade? Keegan Kolesar was sent to the ECHL the day after we acquired him? Grrr. But Oliver Kylington has 3 points in 3 AHL games.  Not sure we'll see him this year with Calgary having less need for puck movement from their D, than they do at pivot. Our top Fwd prospect Henrik Borgstrom has 2 goals in his first college game this year. Our top D prospect, Sanheim aside, Cal Foote has 9 points in 8 games for Kelowna in the WHL,  Maybe our wise owl friend @Captain Azzy does know a thing or twoooo? And several of our under the radar D are shaping up nicely. Westerlund scored 6 points in 11 Super Elit games. So has been boosted to the SHL. Lucas Carlsson is a fixture there, and Filip Berglund has 4 points in 9 SHL games. Jakub Galvas has 5 points in the Czech pro league at 18, after scoring just 6 all last year (but playing pro at 17).

For those in hot divisions, and want some free points to make the postseason?

Erik Johnson is available.  I project 320 points which could get many over the line?  Will retain this year and looking for an average 3rd liner & a middle pick return Or a strong 3rd liner on a playoff team straight up? Again alternately a strong second-round pick equivalent prospect. Hell, Colorado & Johnson are in a playoff position ATM?

No shorage of irony when a young, waiver ineligible 23 yr old defenseman is posted to be available, who plays for a good, up and coming, likely playoff team, has made his team out of camp two consecutive seasons, is signed for 3 more years on cheap terms, remains an RFA thereafter, and has one borderline veteran to outcompete for a job in due course.....Also no shortage of irony in the asking price, considering the complaints about the cost of such players in this league....

No shortage of irony when the only inquiry for this player......comes from @somethingvery:lol:

'Just sayin'.

That's a bit extreme is it not? Surely just cancelling his contract would suffice?

But it's Andrew Desjardins.

As a long-suffering Canucks fan, if you get a chance to take out a former Blackhawk, you do it!

Okposo out with an illness ..... i hope its nothing serious like at the end of the last Season

They're saying it's unrelated - just sick.

Supposedly he had a good game the other day, and has just been unlucky. May have been playing sick for the last week.

Looking to add a forward to my roster. Tippett has been scratched for the first four games now and I need to round out my roster. Not looking for a big deal so please do not ask for the usual suspects, yes, that means Puljujarvi is not available for crumbs. In fact he's not available at all.

A rare day off for the team in Vancouver today! With that some housekeeping, starting with an early season first impression!

The Great:

-1st in the Division so far. We look strong and poised to make a run. But the rest of the Division is close on our tail. Solid division this year

-Patrick Nemeth; New team irl and showing what he had bottled up! Great showing so far from him

-Ovie Starting string is great to see. Will take every bit of it from a guy who was supposed to slow down

The good:

-its been scoring by commited. The secondary scoring is there for the most part. Some players not there yet bit again it's early

-The defense has been showing a solid effort. Rolling with 8/9D is tough but every one contributing

-1/2 the goaltending is there.....

The Bad:

-1/2 the goaltending is not there, paging Antti Raanta...

-3 star players have yet to play games as they have been on IR or not 100% to play. But when Bergeron, Parise and Steen come back... oh baby!

-Madison Bowey; with a horrendous debut, let's hope that's not a sign to cone of a guy I've been so high on.

-Nick Holden, got pushed out, but slowly coming back in. Let's hope he can regain his 4+ fpts/g clip he had last season. But could be a pipe dream

-------------------------

The Vancouver Canucks still looking to always improve. Still have guys like Jack Johnson, Zach Parise, Madison Bowey (and no not cause of his game), Antti Raanta, as guys who we will listen to offers for.

So far the season has started great and we hope to continue that!
