TRADE: The Montreal Canadiens have made a trade with the Buffalo Sabres.

To MTL:

small.png BUF 2018 4th Round Draft Selection (106th overall)

To BUF:

The only thing better than having one Hart Trophy candidate? Having two Hart Trophy candidates!

Thanks to @lethunder for the trade talks that took a few weeks but eventually led to this deal. It took me awhile to get to thie point where this made sense, as we didn't really want to move Max, Aleksi or our only remaining 1st-round selection, but when we now see our top-6 consisting of Hall, Giroux, Duchene, Eberle, Galchenyuk and Patrick it makes us feel better.  :)

The rebuild appears to be over in Montreal, as the past few seasons have seen our team draft and acquirie multiple young players, and as such we expect to have as many as 5 or 6 players on their ELC's which will help us afford our top talent. It's a good thing the cap is expected to go up a few million. And after finishing in the basement of the East last season, we felt that we needed to get rolling soon while our star goalie, Henrik Lundqvist, is still around.

Besides, who needs draft picks, right @Mike Vanderhoek:P

Updated Roster:

Spoiler

Hall - Duchene - Giroux

Galchenyuk - Patrick - Eberle

Panik - Strome - ?

Clifford - ? - Mamin

?

Theodore - Pesce

Hickey - E. Johnson

Dotchin - ?

The Red Wings have reached out to a handful of teams in recent days, with some dialogue gaining traction. Detroit is open for discussion on almost any player, and are looking to shake things up heading into the draft.

Vancouver looking to trade #55, #56 and #104 in the upcoming draft - PM me if you're interested in acquiring picks for roster talent.

Rumour: Richard Panik's name has come up in trade talks of late, as it appears that there's no room in the top-6 inn for him. Played on top-line in ARI last year. Ideally the return would be roughly the value of a 2nd-round pick.

back-to-back Champs!

The Devils would like to acknowledge GM @Squeak and his Arizona Coyotes for a strong season, getting to the Finals with such force has put everyone on notice that Arizona is the real deal and has proven there is an emerging Beast out Weast!

Taking a moment to acknowledge the competition leading up to the Finals, the Senators, Penguins, and Blue Jackets all brought a challenging series that were for the most part exciting to be a part of when not stressful, thanks and hats off to @winterhawks, @ActionJax09, and @Ty Webb.

Last year it was a treat to be able to put my name on the list of Champions in this League, but it is more humbling to further reach another group of GMs with @lethunder, @OurTimeToShine to have won the prestigious CDCGML Cup not only twice but back-to-back!

This one's for you Wilb! just to take a moment and thank our friend for being a part of this group, for giving almost 10 years with us here. This is an awesome group and thinking of you tonight buddy!

Thanks as always to @canuck2xtreme for inviting me to this League, all the work and time you put in and its great to see you around more these days! Special thanks to all our member GMs, another fantastic season under our belts, a pleasure dealing with and competing against you all.

Congratulations to MV and the Devils on their second consecutive spectacular year. You have reached the pinnacle of achievements currently unlocked in the GML.

Congratulations to Alexander Ovechkin. I can’t think of a single player that deserves it more, and he’s certainly had a journey in his 13 year quest... and nobody is forgetting Kuznetsov’s rise to stardom. Washingtons triumph could not have occurred without his, and many others help.

good year, great stories.
