Canuck Surfer
Speaking of coming out the other end? I like Nails bend on the baddest tank! HM to Monty if RL Philly pulls up sharply with all their prospects. I also recall Boeserrific getting some good prospects. But I'm lazy. At this point I'm going off memory... I mean ok half a dozen excellent prospects and a very good top pair on defense. There is some gems or a memo I do not know about coming down the line ? Grubauer could take the starters job in Colorado so that could work out. We threw winning in year 1 out the window pretty early. (We were open to it, but didn't have guys fall to us who we felt were worth passing up on certain youth/prospects for.) Even still, we hope to at least compete by year 2. Some picks were personal favourites (see: @Monty suddenly doing a crazy reach on Jack Wise.) But generally, we have 2 rules: 1) What is the trade value? If I don't think I could trade player A for player B, but I could vice versa, then I'm picking player B. Contracts play into that a lot as well. A vet like Turris may seem to not fit our timeframe, but his contract runs for a while should we keep him, and if we test the market we would expect a ton of interest. Very flexible. 2) Defense >>> Forwards. It's going to be hard to find productive D in this scoring structure. So we definitely have put a premium on them. I am trying to build a team that will make the playoffs in year one and also be set up for the near future years as well...I wanted depth up front so I chose to spend carefully in the early rounds while securing great talent for longer terms (McKinnon) but I wanted to have a top end 1B goalie once the goalie rules were made clear so i picked up Raanta first, who was not on the list of "only one goalies" and then scooped up Carey Price, who was the best available, in my humble opinion, of the remainder on the list in the next round after Raanta. I felt sort of 'forced' to grab Alex Nylander and Michael Rasmussen as possibly playing prospects since so many of them were being snapped up early it was clearly a feeding frenzy, and then back to drafting deep due to the fiscal prudence of the early rounds. Price comes with that huge pricetag, haha, but also secures my netminding 'forever'. He has had one down year from an otherwise stellar carreer and will bounce back, maybe not next season in terms of making the playoffs but the one after or the next. Not concerned. He was my splurge pick at 10.5 million, no one else makes more than 7m. Worked for Vegas, in a round about way in their inauguaral year, haha... ....long story short and why i quoted you is: after all my planning and hard work, lol, the secret pessimist in me wants to bet you beat me in year one. After looking over the other central teams, all have a better forward group than we do, but I believe our defensive group is the strongest. We also have two goaltenders (neither count as starters) who’ll get considerable time this year. While not our intention this year, depending on how we round out our forward group, there’s a chance we could sneak into the playoffs, if our goalies and defense perform as expected. BM24
Jaden Schwartz • Evgeny Kuznetsov • Pavel Buchnevich Evgenii Dadonov • Joe Pavelski • Patric Hornqvist Jesper Fast • Mikael Backlund • Brett Connolly Carl Soderberg • Bryan Little • Zack Kassian Mikhail Sergachev • Mattias Ekholm Brendan Guhle - Sebastian Aho Mike Smith Drake Batherson Brett Howden Alex Formenton Rudolfs Balcers Erik Brannstrom Caleb Jones -- Group of 12 forwards is now completed, now just time to round out the defense. Feel like I have already established a pretty solid prospect pool for not picking many prospects early when they were flying off the shelf. Pretty pleased with those first three, especially since those old Kings will need to turn over their roster pretty soon, and somebody will need to tend the net in FLA when Lu hangs them up. We also still need two more roster players up top, and will be looking to spend near league minimum on those two. Will hopefully begin the year with just over $76 million, giving us some leeway as the season progresses and to have some space to re-up some RFA's who'll come due next year. Primal Optimist
Currently Arizona's last four picks of the draft sit at: 982nd overall 985th overall 1000th overall, and 1006th overall. I am interested in a deal that at the very least moves my 1000th and 1006th overall picks for two picks below 982nd overall but ideally all four move up even just slightly better than 982nd overall spot and in exchange my next pick can trade for a later one of yours. keeping in mind the number of picks trading hands has to balance. If this interests you even if you can only accomodate the last two picks of mine in a deal ...that works for me. let me know. EDIT: THat was fast...i think we are done trading now. thanks all.
