I've always found this 'mentorship' narrative around Sundin to be highly contrived. HIs stop here has been candy-coated and over-rated incessantly. I'll take Kapanen anyday - over any other asset that team could put otb. To Van: Kapanen Marleau To Toronto: Goldobin. Schaller (the Leafs had no 4th ine in the playoffs - they could actually use Schaller). Get er' done JB.

He is 39yrs old and it shows. Any team that gets him will be doing a disservice to their prospects by allowing this guy to take up a spot. 16 goals would've been 4th on our team this past season in goals scored.
*Buzzsaw*
Have to Laff at T.O's Cap problems. That's what happens when you gamble with your CAP signings in an attempt to build a Cup winner too soon. Their problem still remains the D... and all the monkeying around with their overpriced forward roster is not going to solve that core issue. I think the signing was more meant as a mentorship from Marleau more than anything else. You know, that think Edmonton never tried.
mll
Marleau could remain a Leaf. It's not a given that Toronto matches a Marner offer sheet.
