Kane also explains in his note how a condensed NHL schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic will affect his earnings.Kane, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2009 NHL Draft, signed a seven-year, $49 million contract in 2018. Two weeks ago we were 500k under cap with only 18/23 players and no prospects except Lafrenier looking like they would be making the jump this year. Don't get me wrong, the previous regime drafted some great pieces, it's just that none of them are ready quite yet; so I was forced to make a few moves to free up cap, because apparently Brian &^@#ing Boyle isn't willing to retire with his 3.5m cap hit just yet. Ok man, whatever. You're a goddam beauty, but bud, I dunno.. Anyways, I took a long hard look, like at least 7 or 8 minutes and decided - "Screw it, I've got two potential franchise goalie prospects in Primeau and Knight, a blue chip middle pair Dman in Bode Wilde, a handful of other promising prospects and this Alexis Lafrenier kid". I also saw a bunch of other promising young players like Carlo, Butcher, Virtanen, Kunin, Keller, White and Eichel so I decided the team needs to be stripped back a bit, and moves need to be made to take some dollars out of the top 6. We had 41.75m tied up in the top 6. &^@# me. So I traded out a good young center in Colin White and Idont Evenknow, for Hartman, a 2nd and JC Somethingfrench. Freed up 1.5m, got Hartman. Cool. And I scored the bucks to get a back up and a plug dman. Next I traded out Hinostroza and a 4th for a Jan Rutta and a 2nd. Another 1.7m off the books and a dman who I needed for my roster to be not cheaty... well almost not obviously intentionally bad, I still have Boyle, but shhh. Oh, and Sbisa got waived. But it's not my fault. Actually it is, but I don't see another way to make this team an absolute &^@#ing beast without tearing it down first. Out - White, D prospect, Hinostroza, 4th. In - Hartman, (2x) 2022 2nd's.... Rutta, Sbisa, Bernier and 2.9m cap space. (That Sbisa-Bernier combo could undo any good the top 6 is doing IRL. I'm almost embarrassed) There's the journal entry. FLORIDA PANTHERS STARTING LINEUP LAFRIENIER - EICHEL - PATTY KANE GAUDREAU - KELLER - PALMIERI HARTMAN - KUNIN - VIRTANEN NIETO - DE LA ROSE - BOYLE BUTCHER - CARLO SCANDELLA - HJALMARSSON RUTTA - SBISA VARLAMOV BERNIER I've had some good talks with other GM's about lots of different players. As a new GM with a lot of promising young players I'm looking at building for the future, and as such, I have a pretty healthy trade block : Gaudreau Palmieri Nieto De La Rose Scandella Varlamov Ruuta, Sbisa and Bernier are all available too, if you want them for some reason.
