D-Money Posted June 1, 2021 Share Posted June 1, 2021 The despondent Carolina Hurricanes would like to congratulate the Tampa Bay Lightning for a hard-earned series win. We were the highest scoring team to get eliminated, and had enough points to beat half the winners, but it was a tough 1st round match-up, thanks to the numerous deadline acquisitions that @Tylez made. Great GM-ing, bud! I'll be cheering for you next round. We had high hopes to go for back-to-back cups, but it was not to be for this season. The COVID cap freeze kind of screwed with our plans, and we had to pinch pennies on a lot of our depth. As such, many of the depth players we had acquired didn't end up playing in the first round of the playoffs. Add in injuries and suspensions to some core players, and we just didn't have enough juice to get through. Next year though we plan to make another run, and go for 'the Chicago' (3 cups in 5 years).
