Afraid opposition will target the player where they had their injury when they come back?? Major reason why I firmly believe you can't get rid of fighting 100% out of hockey, because if someone wants to go after your top guy to try to hurt him or re-injure him then you need to have a player or a small group of players that will stand up for that and do something about it.

AND the answer is NOT to score on the PP...it didn't work in 2011 against a big nasty team who targeted our players so learn from that going forward I would hope!? Not saying its goon hockey like the good ole days but you need to have some kind of an enforcer who will drop the mitts and not tolerate that kind of stuff to happen to your teammates

yes and no

the 2 teams we have the most trouble with are Montreal and Winnipeg

Montreal has 4 D that are 6'3" 208 +#. they don't target anyone, they knocked every Canuck that strolled through the high slot on their but 2 weeks back

Winnipeg has big forwards that hammer our small to mid sized D, again they don't target, they just run everyone

We have MGoo who can fight pretty good, but we collapse because we can't knock forwards on their but

and we get shut out when the D knock us on ours

he hasn't missed a game since he and the Canucks trainers/equipment staff went through his gear piece by piece in the name of maximizing it's protective abilities prior to last season.

Didn't he go down with an injury (which he recovered from) right at the end of the season and then Covid saved us?   It's for sure up in the air how many games he's going to  play, only 70 games once in his career, averaging 55-60 the rest of the way.     That's pretty much beyond debate.    Cant bubble wrap him.

It is indeed beyond debate, but that doesn't stop some of the more determined JB haters from continuing to pretend that it isn't true and crapping on JB for not committing the team to another 4 years of this unfortunately rather fragile player.
