Power and Hughes are left handed D.  Don't think they are gonna fit with Quinn.  Clarke is intriguing but he's not a slam dunk and maybe a few years away from having a big impact in the NHL.

Without talking specifically about the players, the left/right D is something a coach would understandably strive for but it isn’t a hard rule.  Better to have two competent left side D as a pairing than one iffy left or right D in a pairing.  I’ll go further, I’ll take *ALL* decent left side D over three L/R pairings if a couple of individual D are subpar.

I could see Green taking Baumer with him, not Brown, to his next gig.

Is he leaving or are you speculating Jimmy? Sorry I haven't been paying attention much since I'm going pro tennis and mountain bikeneer. :P

They generate about 85-90% (eye test/gut feel) of their shots on the PP on the 1 timer quick passes to the forwards from the hashmarks, (Brock, Petey/Miller), and netfront (Bo).

The deep man is always looking to one time pass to Bo or Brock, so that leaves only Bo or Quinn setting up Petey. It's very predictable what's happening, because the shots are coming from 3 parts of the same zone on the ice.

The way I would remedy this is go oldschool play with two guys who bomb the puck from the line, and have 2 guys who roam the front for 1 timers, tips, and screens. The bottom guy's job is back of the net puck retrieval, and secondary screens.

2 real D on the backend on powerplay is oldschool I know, but it fixes some of the problems which the team has, which mostly stem from the fact that Quinn has to walk the whole line. Put another D on the right side who can absolutely rip it. Petey and Brock on the hashmarks, and Bo doing deep man duty. 4 shots is better than 3, with increased defensive posture. PP2 uses two D, aye? Go back to it on PP1 too.

so then the next question is, if its so predictable and a clear mess on the ice.... why doesn't he try what you're suggesting or something similar? why keep marching out the same thing thats just painful to watch?

Lind has already debuted. Rathbone had already debuted. Gadjovich is about to debut. DiPietro will be knocking on the door soon. Good draft year for us.

Not to even mention Petey. That's 5 guys with high likelihood of NHL careers from a single draft class.

Now that's a funny word.

Cool, I've supported him all along but I honestly think it would be good to move on.

I hear Torts is available. I own a house in Saskatchewan he could live in. The commute is shorter than it seems. :gocan:

where in SK?

I always liked Torts passion and found him really funny, but he's a high danger coach. it either works great or is a $&!# show.

Sun and Moon Saskatoon. Beautiful little (getting bigger) city.

I love Torts as a coach. I'm old though and am used to bullies. I thought it was awesome when he made the Sedins kill penalties. Tried to kick that country club attitude out of the team but they couldn't handle it. I didn't think they could but we were lost anyway as a result of the laz a fair attitude they instilled in the first place.

I don't think you're correct on the Sedins, by their own accounts they really liked him.

Yeah, I agree there. My wordage wasn't so good. ;) The Sedin's don't shy away from, anything. There were a bunch of people like @oldnews who hated that decision though. I always found it funny as a person that actually plays the game.

nope, they really tried to buy in to Torts system as I recall. Torts was correct tho in his assessment of the state of the team, maybe Linden should have listened closer? but its all academic, we ended up getting a rebuild anyway just took a little longer.
