Toronto head coach Sheldon Keefe said before Thursday's game against the Winnipeg Jets the goaltender will likely miss at least six weeks with a groin injury — his third of the season — suffered Tuesday in Boston against the Bruins.

"Mrazek is getting another consultation just to get some confirmation on some things," Keefe said. "But that's the sense we have right now."

Carolina Hurricanes - "March Madness" Report

What a month! After being in 1st place for a while, it looked like at the end of February that Arizona were going to leave us in the dust. But then the guys just went off, and put up a whopping 1,251 points in March!

A large part of it was the resurgence of 2 vets: Anders Lee and David Perron. After missing most of last season, I figured it would take a bit of time for Lee to get going. But his year had been really disappointing, especially with him not being a playoff player. But he's back with a vengeance now - over the past 14 games, he has scored 11 goals, and put up 114 Fpts for March. Perron too got injured shortly after acquiring him in an earlier trade, and started slow when coming back. But in 13 games last month, he scored 12 goals, and put up 110 Fpts. Both players have 50% retention this year and next, so that's fantastic value for $6.5M of combined cap space.

The goal this year was just to focus on the playoffs, and go for "The Chicago" (3 Championships in 5 years...first one was as NYI, but team names then changed). But as the season went on it became clear that the guys had a great chance to win the regular season too. A big part of that has been the revelation that is Nazem Kadri. He keeps rolling, with 101 Fpts in March, bringing him to 499 points for the year. So we are aiming at finishing strong, and staying in 1st for the regular season.

Go Canes!!!

The Sharks with a monster night last night. Feel like that might have been the first time we've won a night. The stars were the stars. The oddball duo of Mike Smith and Karel Vejmelka both with wins. Soucy is pretty good too. Jumped from 10th to 5th in the standings overnight. 5th to 3rd in the West. Arizona and Vegas are out of reach, but we're hopeful we can maintain home ice advantage. With our lack of playoff players we don't have a chance against teams that have been loading up, but feel like in 3rd or 4th spot maybe we can surprise and win a round.

Cue Kadri injury...

Add to that a big night for Arizona last night, and 1st is not as secure as it seemed a few days ago. Might be a tight finish!

Clutterbuck will miss the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury that will require surgery.

At this point it isn't clear if Clutterbuck, who's picked up 15 points through 59 games this season, will be ready in time for next season's training camp. Look for the 34-year-old vet to land on injured reserve in the coming days.

Adam Gaudette (TBL)
