Rush17
Very happy with our trade deadline this season. We have begun to sculpt the vision of our team heading into 2022-23. We are moving out of the phase of mass fringe UFA's and into a phase of more youth and high end additions. We recently added Adrian Kempe and Jeff Petry to bolster our club for next season. We also acquired young defenseman in Victor Mete and Gabriel Carlsson in both trade and via the waiver wire. We also purged some unnecessary contracts given our current team status. We plan on entering the 2022-23 season much younger and more dynamic than the past 2 seasons under this regime. Our focus remains on the integration of youth in our lineup both via trade, drafting, and player development. We may see some of our first draftees from our tenure making their debuts next season from our 2020 crop. We look forward to a few more strong draft years where we look to add pieces to our system and create a strong sense of internal competition. We will be using a relatively young defense core next season consisting of many young players with very limited or no NHL experience. The goal here will be to give them ample ice time to see how they handle the rigors of the NHL. We are in active talks with our free agent Dman P.K. Subban whom we are hoping will consider NJ as a longer term destination. Veteran leadership is important and the departure of Zaitsev and Staal has created a bit of a void there. We look to be active on the trade front moving into the summer and at our draft table. We attempted to acquire a young NHL backup at the TDL but unfortunately those attempts were unsuccessful. We are prepared to enter the season with Spencer Martin who we feel has earned a shot as an NHL backup. We will continue to see whats out there though to further bolster our depth. Yaroslav Askarov is set to head to North America this summer and Amir Miftakhov has some AHL experience already. We hope to have one of them move up into the backup role in the next season or two. Thanks to all the GM's who engaged with us in trade talks. It was a treat to speak with you all. We wish you well in the post-season! Just please don't eliminate Carolina. We want their 1st. Thanks @Nail for the great season to date and your dedication to this fine league.

HighOnHockey
San Jose Sharks prospect report In addition to rapidly emerging as a force to be reckoned with in the league, we have done it sacrificing very little of our prospect core. The quality of prospects we've inherited and been able to accumulate has allowed us to fairly comfortably trade away almost all of our picks this year and next, knowing we'll have a little bit of breathing room before we need to start replenishing the cupboard. It's not the deepest group in the league by any stretch, but the quality at the top end can go toe to toe with the mostly any team. We decided to break them into tiers based on comparative value to draft picks (mostly just for fun, but also gives other GMs an idea who we're unlikely to move). Tier I (equivalent to 1st round lottery picks): William Eklund - His production this season has been somewhat disappointing, but Djurgardens is one of the worst teams in the league this year and will even be playing for relegation, so he doesn't have a ton of support. On top of that he is also playing center for the first time at the pro level. Although he played C at the junior league level, before this season he's always played left wing in the SHL and at every major international tournament. And whereas he played last year on a line with Alex Holtz and veteran Swedish star center Jacob Josefson, this year he was entirely relied upon to carry his own line, even playing the role of veteran mentor, centering a line with 17 year old rookie sensation Jonathan Lekkerimaki. We see him as a LW in the NHL, but I guess his SHL team needed him at center. We still believe he is the second coming of Paul Kariya. Fyodor Svechkov - Known foremost as a defensive forward in his draft year, he was one of our most heavily scouted players in the draft and we saw a serious offensive element to his game as well, enough so that we had him ranked 7th overall on our final list. Sure enough, he's started to show p/g pedigree at as high level as the VHL. Brandt Clarke - One of the most exciting prospects in hockey. Comes with a good deal of risk, but I'd take his upside against just about any prospect in the game. Tier II (equivalent to later 1st round picks): Ville Koivunen - We had him 28th in our final rankings. As some of you will recall, we were over the moon about landing him at 42 and not shy about letting people know. Arvid Soderblom - We had a feeling when we signed him as a free agent last summer that we might have something pretty special here. Now he is one of the better goalies in the AHL as a 22 year old rookie and has already got some NHL games. Roby Jarventie - Big scoring winger still needs to continue filling out. Decent numbers in AHL for a teenager. Major offensive upside. Reilly Walsh - We see some similarities to the D prospect we recently graduated and just extended yesterday, Sean Durzi. Upside plus years of development equals we think we've got a keeper here. Tier III (equivalent to 2nd rounders): Sasha Chmelevski Ian Mitchell Ben McCartney Vadim Zherenko Edited March 25, 2022 by HighOnHockey 1
