BigTramFan
These two proposals are under the assumption that Sutter is on LTIR and Hamonic chooses not to play (contract terminated in some way, making his cap space available). To VAN: Matt Roy To LAK: Silovs + Bowey + 2022 3rd round pick LAK have a bunch of young and more talented Dmen coming into their roster in the next 1-2 years. Roy will be easily overtaken and they could use his cap space then. This trade gives them a decent goalie prospect (Silovs is much better than Ingham and Villalta), a RHD as insurance for this season (Bowey) just in case one of their young guys isn't quite ready for the NHL, plus a decent pick in the next draft. VAN gets a dependable RHD to replace Hamonic at a similar cap hit ($3.15m x 3 more years). To VAN: Carter Rowney To DET: MacEwen DET are a young rebuilding team. Rowney is 32, has one year left on his contract ($825k) and is likely 13-14th forward on their roster. He has no future with DET. Instead DET takes a flyer on a 25 year old with potential to be a tough bottom 6 forward who could have a future in their system. If Mac doesn't work out in DET they have lost nothing of consequence since Rowney was likely walking in 2022. VAN gets a vet that can slot into the 4C spot while Sutter is injured. Rowney is used to playing ~70% Dzone starts, played 14 mins/game last season, career 50% FO% and is an excellent PKer. Miller Pettersson Boeser Pearson Horvat Hoglander Garland Dickinson Podkolzin Motte Rowney Lockwood (Di Giuseppe) OEL Poolman Hughes Roy Juolevi Myers (Rathbone Schenn) Demko (Halak)
Alflives
Our current options are better. So upon further thought:
mll
Don't see why LAK would be interested. They are looking to compete while Kopitar/Doughty can still play and are looking to get into the post-season. Can't imagine they want to weaken their own team let alone help a divisional rival. FaninMex
Byfield is going to be out for some time with a broken ankle. LA may need to keep him. I am not sure of their D core though.

I’m not too worried about Sutter’s absence since Horvat and Miller can still take key face-offs, and so I think Nic Petan should be able to fill in as a 4th line C. We all know that he’ll come back, but the Canucks cannot afford to stumble out of the gate as they did last season. Even with Hamonic, our right side D is a significant concern. Hence, the need to get a legit short term replacement (ie Demers, Psysk, etc.) in order to ensure that the Canucks come out with a reasonably strong start. No point Hamonic coming back in 4-6 weeks after we’ve stumbled out of the gate. In the absence of Hamonic, we are also assuming/hoping that no other injuries on D occur.......which is not realistic.
