mll
59 powerplay opportunities - 3 more than any other team in the league. Montreal in 1 more game is 2nd with 56. League median is 44. NYI only went on the PP 28 times. Every team has a reason to complain about the refs but Vancouver is getting the calls more often than others. GB5
Blaming the refs, as frustrating as it can be at times is really just a cop out. Bad calls should motivate a team to push harder but with this team it seems to be more like a conveniant excuse for uninspired play.
-DLC-
TIRED OF THIS ^ Cap locks makes people less inclined to read, not more. I mean, once in awhile for emphasis, sure. The reffing's been atrocious but I don't think it's just aimed at us, it's piss poor overall. It's glaring when your PK's been awful and they have to go out there 8 times in a game because now they're terrible and tired. So it has an impact for sure. But it's not just isolated to our team, even if it's worse here.
wallstreetamigo
Unless the refs are building the roster and coaching it, they are not the issue in why this team loses games, has no identity, and can’t get out of their funk. Officiating is terrible. It’s not a Canucks issue it’s an nhl wide issue.
Tortorella's Rant
You think this is bad? There was a stint in the early to mid 2010s where the Sharks literally had more PPs than us in every single game. I don't recall the exact numbers but it was nearing a cumulative 2:1 over those years.

The main reason for the Canucks and the Habs is game management. They give power plays to keep the game from getting totally out of hand when a team is losing badly. Watching games the Canucks rarely get the first powerplay. Last night they never got a call until the end of the 2nd period giving them a split power play after the Ducks already had 2 power play goals. Green made the mistake of calling out the refs after the previous game. So their response was to screw him over even more. Non calls are often a more effective way to slant the game. wai_lai416
it's not so much about how much penalty or how much powerplay we get. it's more about how many soft/phantom penalty we get called against us and how many obvious penalties like the 5 man on the ice in OT that doesn't get call against the other team.
