Carolina Hurricanes send down Daniil Miromanov and Michael Pezzetta (both no waivers), and activate Evander Kane from injured reserve.

Carolina also terminates the contract of Daniil Zhuravlyov, who has returned to Russia and signed with Ak Bars Kazan (Link).

@Nail

Zhuravlyov was originally signed in FL when he was overseas, so his contract cannot be terminated.

Sharks Prospect of the Week: Sasha Chmelevski

San Jose Sharks prospect update:

Sasha Chmelevski's decision to sign overseas last summer was a significant disappointment to the organization, as he had shown signs the previous spring that he was ready for full-time duty. As a kid, Chmelevski was something of an offensive prodigy - 13 points in 5 games at the Brick, 10 in 5 at Hlinkas, 31 in 18 in OHL playoffs at 19, and everyone remembers his last 10 minutes of the 2019 WJC gold medal game - but he was much maligned for his work ethic and two-way play.

Since turning pro, the Sharks have been working diligently with him to improve his all-around game, and so his stats have flown under the radar a bit. Now this year at 23 in the second best league in the world, he's a legitimate number one two-way center, playing 18:33 per game (1st on his team among forwards) and winning 53% of his 800+ faceoffs. Now with a year at this level under his belt, we fully expect he could jump right in and be a 30-40 point contributor in the NHL next year, with plenty of room still to grow. Definitely the most under-rated prospect in our system.

Yikes!

6 foot 5 power forward who puts up half a ppg. Some healthy scratches because he's falling out of favour with the caps head coach. Not really anything to turn away from. slightly overpaid.. sure. The salary cap is going up tho it won't be unmanageable and we have a good cap situation moving forward in NJ.

Could see him thriving with a change of scenery. Philly, Vancouver, Edmonton?
