Honestly if they don’t see that this is the perfect time for a rebuild then they’re blind.

This team is not competing in the next two years. The real estate market and the Canadian dollar is down and we’re heading into a recession. Why would they wanna keep spending so much money for a losing product?

Tank hard and clear cap for the next two years and rebuild around a young core with lots of cap space to add the right pieces at the right time. Keep a couple vets like Bo and Schenn around and ship out the rest.

You want to keep the only 2 guys we can finally sell high on?

It’s not gonna be as high as people want.

And contrary to popular belief you do need to keep some vets on the team.

Cap space is the most valuable thing this team can gain right now, not picks and prospects.

We want to get good returns, but never want to sell high.

Bo will get you excellent value, unless JR f**ks it up.

A 2nd was supposedly offered for Schenn last season, but team wanted to push for Playoffs.

If you want to rebuild and tank like your post says, then picks and prospects is the most valuable thing we can gain now.

Late seconds and and later firsts are not the most valuable thing. If a late second for Schenn is all we can get I’d rather keep him to be a leader. That has value fans can’t see.

Again cap space is number 1. It opens you up to opportunities that we don’t have right now because of the cap crunch. Getting good players AND picks from teams because we have space available will get this team further than a couple measly late picks.

Also our own first being top 5 is the only thing that will have a true impact to get this team the talent it needs.

Luke Schenn was out of the league not too long ago and the 7th dman on Tampa. Getting a 2nd out of him is excellent value. I love Schenn more than anyone same goes for Bo, but a good organization knows when to move on from players.

Keeping a guy like Bo keeps us middling. You’d think we’d learn from the competitive rebuild in the Benning era..

Again, if we want to tank and rebuild like your post initially said then picks and prospects are far far more valuable.

It never is. But... are you suggesting "selling"  OEL, Myers, Pearson, Boeser, JT, Poolman, Garland, and Mikheyev? Most of them have negative value, especially given how tight the cap is across the league.
