Doughty, Kopitar and Kempe were just massive. Doughty just played the perfect playoff game - tough physically, moved the puck really nicely along the blueline and did the most important thing - shut down the opponent's top line. Edmonton don't have that top stud on the blueline, Nurse and Ekholm are good but Doughty is an absolute master of the playoff matchup game as is Kopitar to be fair. They're winding back the clock and giving the Oilers a first hand lesson of what they're missing - solid defence and clutch scoring.

 

Sadly I think the Oilers will catch up with them and LA can't keep this up, but if LA somehow steal the next game...look out.

On the Iafallo goal?  He was in front trying to block the pass to Kempe.  If he blocks the shooting lane Kempe has a wide open one-timer.  Standard PK breakdown.

Boudreau broke down that goal on NHL Network and had the same take - not on Nurse who was correctly positioned to block the pass to Kempe.
