  1. Interesting stats with AJ Time: In 2009-10, Daniel Sedin had 56 assists in 63 games. In 82 games, this would be on pace for 73 assists. The current NHL record for assists by a LW in a season goes to Lemiuex, who played LW in 1996-97 and had 72 assists, so if Daniel had played an entire season at that projected rate, he might've broken an NHL record.

If you don't want to count Lemiuex, the guy below him is Bob MacMillan of the Atlanta Flames and his 71 assists in 1978-79.

@Baer. Hockey-Reference keeps track of positional changes throughout the years. That was my source and was also how I knew Linden wasn't a centre in his rookie season (I wasn't around back then). It's the only source for stats I've found that will show position changes throughout the years (NHL.com will just use one position for a player's entire career, like most sites).

Linden actually wasn’t a center at all prior to when he was drafted by the Canucks...so it’s not a surprise he was initially used as a winger with the Canucks.  It goes to show you just how good he was (and no, I’m not saying he was a generational player) to be able to make such a drastic change.  The only thing tougher is moving from center to D (or visa versa).

We were sooooo thin at center, Trev was shifted to center.

Not just a guy who led by example but had real talent.
