canucksnihilist
At some point they have to actually take a risk and get an established player... Else they won't win the cup. Mg strat to get players: free agency but dont overpay, or trade for players with potential but who are not playing well so u can get them cheap. Don't give away young players if possible. Great if u can get free agents to take beneath market value, but really not many players will do that. Best scenario: use the cap space saved so far and use it to actually bid and get a player like Parise or Semin or someone to play with Kesler. It is called taking a risk to make a push and win a cup. Even Detroit did it when they could with Hossa. So forget the Amex line we need to do something NOW while we are in the window
Smashian Kassian
My Choices to replace Higgins: 1. Parise 2. Zajac 3. Little 4. Voracek then there are alot of others like Wheeler both those are the main ones I would like.
DownUndaCanuck
Our 2nd line is exactly what you want - it is perfect. All 3 skaters were scoring at a 20-goal pace and 50 point pace or greater which is all you can ask from your 2nd line. Don't expect a 40 goal scorer and 80 point player to be playing behind the Sedins. For what they're worth, Higgins and Booth are great 2nd line wingers and would be first liners on most poor offensive teams. AV just needs to keep them together - as soon as he took Higgins off the 2nd line in favour for Raymond the guys just started to stink. Hopefully MG doesn't re-sign Raymond so AV has no choice but to play the 3 Americans together. Injuries really hurt their chances in the playoffs, but even then we saw Higgins on the 3rd line bogged down by a much slower Pahlsson and less talented Hansen. P.S Parise is not coming to Vancouver, and if he is he's playing with the Sedins anyway.
Gino Odjick
It's simple you cannot say the AMEX line does not need a playmaker... Kesler will never be a playmaker because hes a scorer (didn;t want to call him a sniper) Booth is a grinding scorer Kes is good for 35-40 goals booth 30 goals - with a playmaker on there line.. its pretty simple to see that they need a playmaker yes higgins is a great player but that doesn't mean that he can be that guy its obvious they need a play maker! Phil_314
Twins - Booth (if David can snap shots off quickly off feeds from the Twins he can be dangerous on that top line!) looks like the 2nd line can't be AMEX anymore, since I can't think of any realistically attainable American play maker who they can acquire; I think that line has some good pieces to work with (or pieces that can be acquired) but the right combo needs to be found; presuming Kes is set up the middle: play making winger: Ray Whitney (UFA) or Tyler Ennis (RFA with cash-strapped Buffalo); wild card: Brad Boyes (UFA) complementary shooters (these guys aren't exclusively shoot-first): Chris Higgins/ Alex Burrows/ Jannik Hansen? (if Schroeder makes it or if Pavelski comes over for Lu? then AMEX can stay )
Gollumpus
Why does everyone want to keep trading for other teams players? If were going to win, were going to win with a nucleas that knows how to play with eachother and wants to play with eachother. The only way that happens is by growing this team together. Im sick of hearing about how we need to trade for a player to play with Kesler. Its time Kesler start playing for others as well. He was so selfish this season at times that it made me sick. I have been the biggest Kesler fan since we drafted him... When he was signed to a offer sheet from the Flyers I prayed we would keep him because I knew he would turn out to be a top line player. And he has... but a front line player needs to make others around him better. He showed chemistry with Booth for about one game.. THATS IT. ONE game. We have Kassian, Jensen who are both going to be 2 amazing players. Its time Vignault start working them into our core. I know Jensen is young, and hasnt even played pro yet, but this team needs an injection of youth on their top 2 lines especially. As much as you liked seeing the Amex line together for the three games they actually played well together, that isnt a line that is going to work long term. Higgins simply isnt a 2nd line player. If we can deal Schnieder for a Brett Connolly type player, Gillis needs to jump right on that. We need a young player who can play now and can be a star for us for many years down the road. Also, enough of these bloody Americans who dont even care about winning in Vancouver. I have gotten no feeling whatsoever from Higgins or Booth that they care to win in this city. None. Booth spends more time bible thumping and planning where hes going on his next hunting trip than actually winning. This team needs players like Burrows, Bieksa, Hamhuis who would give anything to win here for this city.
uber_pwnzor
I liked the Amex a lot, would like to see them together for a few games next season.
Burnsey
that should have been our 2nd line all season. I mean Raymond over Higgins? seriously? Sedins-Burrows Booth-Kesler-Higgins Raymond-Hodgson/Pahlsson-Hansen that would have been a much better 3 lines for us in the long run. AV has to stop using his favourites, if you don't produce don't play them and that is Raymond...

Nancouver
Yes I would. Out of 23 o.t. Goals in the playoffs this year 15 were scored by Canadians.....0 for the Americans.
The Sedin's 6th Sense
I think MG will give Jensen a shot and see if he can be that playmaker...if so, Jensen stays on the 2nd and plays a key part, and if he doesn't prove he can do it by trade deadline, some moves will be made, or it might just happen this offseason. Dogbyte
Forget the AMEX line. Definitely need another top 6 forward, a playmaker, or as canucksnihilist says we need to take a chance on an experienced, legitimate top 6 player. Enough screwing around, lets take a risk and bring a bonfide player in to fix our second line.
Nancouver
Would love to see Jensen involved somehow this season. Looks like he's got a goal scorers touch
LeanBeef
How about Pacioretty? Great caphit (1.8), still pretty young at 23, and near ppg last season. Very injury prone though. Seems like someone Gillis would want, a mid risk high reward player. Maybe we couldve done this during the deadline earlier this year. Hodgson Raymond 1st For Max Pacioretty Travis Moen 3rd Sedin-Sedin-Burrows Pacioretty-Kesler-Booth Higgins-Pahlsson-Hansen Moen-Malhotra-Lapierre Pretty solid
