personally, he is RW in the my mind because how he is fearless to drive to the net....that was that tipping point for me before he started to drive to the net i was "i dont know about this guy" but after i was like "wow, finally someone charges the net...love this guy"

He could be firing from the blueline as long as he scores I don't care.

Yea I'd be fine with either or, but as you said, when he plays right, it's easier for him to cut to the net and do what he does best.

What does being a LW or a RW have to do with driving to the net?

Alex Ovechkin, James Neal, Scott Hartnell, Jamie Benn, Milan Lucic, Rick Nash, and Taylor Hall are all LWs who drive hard to the net.

It's easier for him to protect the puck on the left side. I think that's more important when driving to the net.

If higgy or MayRay is on is line start him at RW, if Kass has a good camp and is on the second line then LW because Kass has a right shot

I like him playing LW, I think he is at his best on that side of the ice, so keep him there.

im assuming you guys play the game?????? you are much more effective driving to the net on your back hand so that you can tuck it in on your forehand

RW In my opinion

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

ovechkin - is a righty so he plays the left side so he can drive to the net and when comes down the wing he has more shooting options

neal - played right wing with malkin

hartnell - does go to the net but he doesnt have the speed to fly down the wing and beat defenders wide so he isnt a real good comparable

benn - played a lot of center last year

lucic - samething as hartnell

nash - he is RW but he will probs play LW in nyr but he isnt as effective

hall - he comes in at 100 miles an hour down his strong side (LW because he shoots left) and trys to open himself up for a shot on his forehand....thats his game not necessarily driving to the net although he does do it if its available

booth can definitely drive to the net on the left side but he is a lefty so he can come down the right wing and go one handed and use other hand to protect the puck from the defender (he does it in both videos i posted) and then he can tuck it in on his forehand

RW for the same reason Erik Cole loves playing RW. A left handed shot has a much more effective drive to the net on the right side, because you can drop your inside shoulder and protect the puck while being on your forehand when making a move.

Same reason Ovechkin a right handed shot likes playing the left side. And Nash a left handed shot likes playing the right side. Playing your off wing makes your power game much more effective. You dont see guys drop a shoulder and drive the net on their natural side.

And of course if you're terrible at playing a pass off your skate or backhand in your own end then you pose as a liability. Shooting one way and playing the opposite wing has its pros and cons.

I think he's better on the right, he doesn't get poke checked as often cutting across the net with speed. He also shoots more on the rush when playing RW. He plays just like MayRay on the LW.... All dash and no cash...

Who are we talking about? David Zoolander? Can he only drive from the right or something because that would suck? I wonder if he knows how to skate backwards? My whole perspective on David Zoolander has completely changed, thanks for ruining my evening sir.

Whatever he's most comfortable with. Seems better on the right side in my opinion.

Do you even watch hockey?

He says he's more comfortable on the left but he also acknowledged that it's easier to drive the net from the right. Probably will depend on the other winger (hopefully not Raymond).

I completely agree, I was meerly explaining why he has an easier time driving the net from the right side as many people seemed to not understand why which wing he plays has a huge effect on that.
