He's not underrated. The fact of the matter is that without the Sedins, Burrows would be a serviceable 3rd liner at best. Anson Carter is proof of this and look where his career ended... DOWN THE DRAIN!

Burrows biggest attribute is his work ethic. Add the fact he hit the jackpot by being a non drafted hockey player that has remarkable "chemistry" with the Sedins.

ANYONE WHO THINKS BURROWS WILL BE AS GOOD IF HE SIGNED WITH A DIFFERENT TEAM IS ON DRUGS

3/4 yr @ 2.75-3.5m trust me, Canucks hold all the cards and leverage here

Did you not watch the world hockey championship tournament?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but Burrows had 3 goals in 5 games played and was a +5 in those games.
I'm pretty sure the Sedins were not playing for team Canada.

He has been like this through out his career, wether it was in the QMJHL, ECHL, the AHL or here in
the NHL, his heart, hustle, and ambition is what got him here. I hope Burrows retires a Canuck.

I would just like to prove that I too can do what Hockeyy Insiderr does.

Burrows and the Canucks are working on a new deal
It will be between 1-6 years in length.
It will be between 2-5 million dollars per year.

Just remember that I, Linden Legend, broke this story!!!! Don't you dare try to take credit away from me when he signs this deal!!! I am breaking this story right now!!!! I am a legit source damn it!!!

Was that at the end of Nazzy's reign here?

Saskatchewan's biggest Canucks fan?

I guess, now that I live in (ugg) Calgary. B)

I did a search on the internet. http://forum.canucks...over-the-years/

In the OP from the link above from 2010:

2000-01 = Trent Klatt, Todd Bertuzzi
2001-02 = Trent Klatt
2002-03 = Trent Klatt, Trevor Linden
2003-04 = Jason King, Magnus Arvedsson
2005-06 = Anson Carter
2006-07 = Taylor Pyatt
2007-08 = Taylor Pyatt, Markus Naslund
2008-09 = Alex Burrows, Pavol Demitra, Steve Bernier
2009-10 = Alex Burrows, Mikael Samuelsson.

Ha ha, at least my opinions don't radically change, I comment pretty much the same thing as I have now, it does reconfirm the revolving door and lack of a gifted player to play with these guys.

Sigh. Just imagine an ' in his prime ' Bertuzzi with the twins right now.

You girls is being hilarious.

Also, in that tournament,

Thoresen 19 points
Skroder 12 points
Popov 12 points
Ask 10 points
Holos 9 points
Gogulla 9 points
Radivojevic 8 points
Brunner 7 points

.........
........
......

Burrows 3 points - so you've proved that Burrows is almost as good as these 8 players that don't play in the NHL ... good job. In other news I scored 19 goals in a fundraiser shinny tournament 7 years ago. Maybe I should get a shot with the Sedins because the guys I played with weren't near as good as them? Imagine what I could do with someone that could actually pass? <_<

One so called "insider" claims that Burrows has come to an agreement on an extension and it will be announced tomorrow.

Take it for what it's worth.

The same source is saying the Canucks are considering trading Edler for Evander kane and considering trading Corey Schneider.

Yeah APPARENTLY we have an amazing offer for Schneids...

Curious to see if the Burrows deal is announced tomorrow. Would be a steal if he gets less than 4.5

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

I'd actually believe both of those things.

Kane brings exactly the kind of youth and size that Gillis is looking for. If Edler's camp is asking too much and Gillis thinks we can afford to trade him he would definitely consider it. Plus with Bogosian being out 4-6 months, the Jets will have to act unless they wanna write off a season.

And as for Schneider being traded. It's unlikely, but you never know, Gillis might receive an offer he can't refuse. And he's clearly not getting what he wants in a Luongo trade.

Edler for Kane

Schneider for Gudbranson

I don't know about you, but that would be hard to turn down.

Our second line would become:

Kane - Kesler - Booth

and our D pairings would become:

Hamhuis Bieksa
Garrison Gudbranson
Ballard Tanev/Alberts

Definitely alot younger, and a whole lot tougher.

Who is this source?

Not even worth mentioning the name. They only have 162 followers.

I still find it interesting when these tweeters throw stuff out there like this. He could be right on this, or he could be pulling it out of hi a$$. We'll have to wait and see...

Kane will be a franchise player that immediately makes our top 6 tougher and more deadly.

Edler is a franchise defenseman capable of putting up at least 50 points a season, albeit playing with the Sedins.

The question is could we acquire a defenceman through a Luongo or Schneider trade that could fill in at least part of the hole left by Edler. Or could Ballard step up into the top 4 and have a replacement fill his place in the bottom pairing?

Good question
If we trade Schneider we have a shot at landing Gardiner
But that would leave us with Luongo - I don't know if it's wise to move forward with him regardless of his stats- he looked mediocre against LA and Boston and Schneider looked lights out, I really feel it would be a mistake to move forward with Luongo as number one

Burrows played on a Team Canada that was A LOT DEEPER than any of the teams the guys in the aforementioned list played on.

Agent for #Canucks forward Alexandre Burrows tells CKWX - "The 2 sides continue to talk about a contract extension but there is a "GAP".

Burrows agent, Paul Corbeil says their is work to do before a deal is done but they will continue hammering away.

Also got the sense Burrows would play over-seas if there is no NHL hockey. No comment is what Corbiel said about Europe.

Hmmm, still a GAP according to Burrows' agent. Maybe MG will threaten a trade unless Burrows signs on the dotted line, just like he did last time.

4 years @ 3,250,000 per season

He should be getting a salary that makes it acceptable for him to be playing on the Third Line. I think that the Sedins and Burrows lacked chemistry this season, MG should look at the possibility of finding a natural right winger for the Sedins.

There's a certain, natural right winger that's still a free agent. He's a big name too :bigblush:

I don't argue that. I'm just saying that trying to prove a player's worth because he got 3 points in the World Championships is ... well pointless.

Maybe those players didn't have the hunger, desire, or drive to make it to the NHL
or stick with the NHL.

Burrows being in a position he is in now, did'nt happen by accident nor was it a fluke.
His work ethic is what got him here, his passion is what's keeping him here.

Burrows definitely deserves a raise from what he is getting currently.

I definitely agree with these statements, the question is what kind of raise? He probably deserves $5 mil and could get it on the open market but if we pay him that it will be to our detriment. First off, anyone who thinks that they can't find a better hockey player to play with the Sedins is crazy. The fact is the Canucks have never gone out and got a legit first liner for the Sedins. Secondly, Burrows will in all likelyhood regress as he gets older, and as the Sedins get older, and as the entire league figures out how to play against them.

The question is do we want to and can we afford to pay Burrows now with a big contract for what he did in the past. Any GM would think you were stupid if you did that.
