Anyway, the people who criticized Canucks for losing Volpatti can be happy they got a younger, bigger guy with a better AHL scoring record.

No, I still like the local guy Volpatti better. However, I sort of understand why they did put him on waivers.

How about we watch him play before we judge him?

That's the problem with alot of Canucks fans. They're so judgemental of players before they even play one game.

Too many youtube scouts around these parts.

Trade Raymond + Booth + Ballard for Perry.
Trade Pinozotto + Weise for Rinaldo

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Perry - Kesler - Kassian
Higgins - Schroeder - Hansen
Sestito - Lappiere - Rinaldo

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - Garrison
Vandermeer - Tanev

Toughness solved, top 6 forward filled....

then i wake up from a dream. :bigblush:

Where the hell is Understand?

I fully expected to see him jizzing all over this thread by now.

That's the first thing that came to my mind. Understand is a legend.

I remember when he really wanted Brad Winchester on our team and then Volpatti KO'd him in preseason.

Not that I ever want Kassian on our 4th line, but can you imagine how intimidating of a 4th line that would be? Kassian already scares the living daylights out of most players, but having a giant like sestito standing side-by-side with him is a welcome sight.

Yet another player that Columbus ruined.

It really is shocking how these players are still able to keep themselves afloat in the NHL. Columbus threw all their prospects into the NHL and rushed them, regardless of what their status was.

this, he once played on the same team as james neal and check out his stats

60gp 42 g 22a 64 pts-Sestito
45gp 27g 38a 65 pts- Neal

pretty cool to see that he was only one point behind a future 82 pt scorer in the nhl

also on that team was boll, who was also rushed by columbus

One aspect of the game that I never understood was drafting players. For example, Tom Sestito got 64 pts in 60 games in the OHL, and he got drafted in 3rd round 85th overall. On the other hand Colton Gillies got 47 pts in 58 games in the WHL, and he got drafted in 1st round 16th overall.

Both are big and huge guys. In junior both appeared similar, with Tom slightly better. But Tom got drafted so much later than Colton. So what gives? How do GM pick players?

my lord, i think the Canuck management has finally seen the light.

great 48 hours, Harper's Main man and total scumbag Tom Flanagan outed as a pedophile, christy clark disgraced (again) and signs that Canuck management will finally stock this team with some beasts.

Well, they can't use AV's coin for this so they use one of those 10 sided die like in Dungeons & Dragons.
/sarcasm

But seriously, they saw more potential or ability in certain areas they coveted so picked him higher.

And he is a true heavy wieght. He will fight players Volpatti couldn't. He is a better fit for what the canucks need. Watch him earn ice time if AV likes him. I think he will. He brings another dimention to the 4rth line.

And he is known to Bruins fans for his hit on Nathan Horton. Genuinely creepy coincidences.

Honestly, I'm interested to see if he has hands. He's pulled a couple decent forehand-backhand moves against Lindback. Not really what you expect from 6'5" 230 lbs.

He's only 25 and had 34 NHL games. Garrison plays pretty damn well for how late his first season was.

Starting to like this kid. Knowing AV, Sestito may see some time parked in front of the net on the PP or a shift with the Sedins following a PK. He's got that notable size and MASS that you need to bang in the playoffs. He's a size upgrade over Volpatti, remains to be seen as to what he can bring though.
