apollo
Lots of media say that CBJ and TB were hot after schneider in 2012 spring and summer - wonder what the packages were- CBJ has some good young players- Johansen, Murray, Jenner Cuda had Nash for the series vs the kings. ForsbergTheGreat
Cuda had Nash for the series vs the kings. a) it wasn't just a cory straight up for nash rumour other valuable pieces were involved b )Nash had a NMC and submitted a list of teams he was willing to go to. Vancouver was not on that list. c) Nash also has a cap hit of 7.8 Million that means some else on our team would not be here and no likely garrison signing in the 2012 offseason d) NYR offered Dubinsky, Anisimov, Erixon and a 1st round pick in 2013, no way we could have matched that let alone beat that type of offer. and if we did it would have likely meant no first round pick in 2013 one of the deepest draft in years, goodbye Horvat or Shinkaruk e) and finally even if we had Nash for the Kings series it would have not guaranteed us the series win over the Kings we were already without daniel sedin the first 2 games of the series. also we were not the only team that had trouble scoring on quick that post season. So in conclusion Nash would have never been involved in a trade to come to vancouver and even if he was we would have been left with no future. We are far better off without that rumour (and nothing more) happing.

No way we could move forward with Nash's 8 million dollar cap hit and not be a weaker team. Just look at how poorly the Rangers are doing with that much money tied up in Nash, Richards, and Lundqvist.

They ended up trading him to LA for Johnson instead. In hindsight Carter would have made us much stronger, and probably would have meant LA missing the playoffs. Riviera82
is it time for Brodeur to move aside? Schnieder 1.99 GAA 927 save% Brodeur 3.4 GAA .865 save% Brodeur will be a good mentor as a backup for Schneider this year. At season's end he should ride off into the sunset ending his legendary career gracefully.

Carter in Columbus was real bad. Even after he got to LA he was not doing much. IMO hockey scouts have to be physcologists. We will always wonder what the returns for Schneids could have been if Gillis had not been under as much pressure as he was.
Heretic
I can't believe people are still whining about this. Let me say it again, it was a "business" decision to trade Schneider. It's over, move on people.

It's over, move on people. It'll never be over in the minds of some people. We're still hearing about Coho, Grabner and Torres on a regular basis....heck, Cam Neely still comes up every once in a while.

BoKnows53
Schneider is the best goaltender in the league by far. Get over it Girly boys.
RUPERTKBD
What? We traded Cam Neely!?!?!?!! This is where I point out that not only did we trade Neely, (for Barry Pedersen) we also included a first-rounder that turned out to be Glen Wesley... Heretic
Schneider is the best goaltender in the league by far. Get over it Girly boys. Exactly how important is that? Did he help his team win a Stanley Cup last year? Nope, and that is all that really matters.
