[Report] Leafs, Kadri remain far apart in negotiations

Recommended Posts

the leafs kicked this guy around for a few years up and down when he should have been with the big club now there asking for him to take a hometown deal contract. nonis is useless (still)before he wetted his pants overpaying for a 3rd liner in clarkson he should have locked up his own rfa's. kadri's camp doesn't owe the leafs a thing and this is how they treat a player that really help them get into the playoffs. look back to last season leaf nation nonis himself were sing how this kid was the next best thing the future of this team a allstar and superstar. geez talk about eating your own words and it would appear nonis does that alot.

in this market 4-4.5 mill in not unreasonable for a TOP line winger.

Well when you get rid of Booth and or Bieksa, you give him one of their salaries. Franson is also 6-7 years younger than Bieksa and less injury prone. Surely he could slot in along side his old buddy Hamhuis and form a great pairing

A top 6 winger who hasnt actually been a factor in 4 years and is brittle for a 26yr old 6'5 dman who can be more useful? In a heartbeat..... As for Bieksa.... I maintain all along that he is part of the aging core that needs doing away with. I was a huge Bieksa fan and sad to think he IS getting older. Im sorry but in the new cap world, personal feelings and love fests for a player are a thing of the past.

That would be an absolutely horrible deal for this franchise.

Henrik, Kesler, Schroeder, Richardson, Santorelli, Gaunce, Horvat, Lain, Mallet...

The Canucks have a pair of first round picks in their top 6, they have another one emerging in the lineup, and another two centers selected in the first round the past two years.

Kadri is a misfit here - the primary ozone starts role is the Sedins - Kesler eats up another 20 minutes, Kadri is not a third line center and would find himself in a Hodgson situation here - there is no real need to add a player like Kadri to this lineup - he has far more value to the Leafs.

On the other hand, dealing Edler - without bringing a defenseman in return - is a really bad idea.

Beyond Hamhius, Garrison and Alberts on the left side (and Garrison might wind up being used on the right) - there is Tommernes and McNally in the system...

Beyond that, but dealing Edler for an RFA with one half season of NHL production - is a serious overpayment.
