This has nothing to do with you expressing your negative opinion of him... People just want you to shut up. We get it already... On the bright side, if he is any degree of successful in the NHL, I'm going to laugh at you publicly on these boards every day, several times, until you or I die.

Fair enough.

It was hilarious, and I guess I'll just shut up about Subban for a while. I think I have said enough.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Benning is going to trade Subban? Perhaps at the draft?

He has a lot of the markings of a guy Benning would trade: Gillis pick - Check; undersized - Check; perceived as one dimensional - Check.

He traded Shink why can't he trade Subban,

Heck I would too if it was for P.K

Yes, I do. Whenever Benning talks about the good young players in the system, he almost never mentions Subban. When Subban leads his team in scoring, Benning talks about Philip Larsen maybe running the power play next year. I just really doubt that Subban will get a chance to play for the Canucks, but will be attractive to another team because of his offensive ability and his name. I hope that Benning is open to selling high on a kid with decent numbers in his rookie pro season.

As has pretty clearly been the plan from the start.

Year one, get him headed in the right direction and addressing deficiencies.

Year two, continue growth and give a taste to see what he he needs to work on at the next level.

Year three, should be able to push for a spot. Might still split some time between the two leagues.

Year four, should be largely full time (if he hadn't quite nailed it down year three).

Patience people.

He was never expected to be on the Canucks this season or likely next.

He may very well still be moved but fretting that he hasn't played on the Canucks yet is frankly, silly.

Let's be completely honest with ourselves guys. The only thing we know of Jordan Subban, or really any Utica player is what we see in the box score and what the Utica posters say. Even if you do catch the odd online game, it's pretty hard to evaluate talent with the poor production value. With all the points this kid puts up its hard to dismiss the fact that he just plain and simply isn't big enough. If it's taken a guy like Pedan this long to get a shot, imagine what it's going to take to get Subban in the lineup. With this latest signing I honestly see no future for him.

I think he should pack it in and become a horse jockey.

Honestly though, if Subban's life depended on making the Olympics. Wouldn't you agree that his best chance of survival would be as a Jockey?

Pedan and Subban are different players...
Ryan Ellis has made a career for himself, is Subban not a similar player? He also notes being a fan of Brian Rafalski. He's well aware of his weaknesses as an athlete but keeps plugging away and working on his strengths.

I mean maybe I'm biased because I'm a shorter dude like Jordan, but this type of complete dismissal of his abilities is pretty astonishing. Before Hutton emerged he was clearly our defenseman with the highest offensive ceiling. He puts up impressive numbers in a pro league and you say "maybe hockey's not for you". I just hope for your sake you only talk that way on an internet forum.

Bias because you are also short? If anything that should be enough to sway your opinion to my side of the argument. You know first hand how hard life is for Jordan.

A very small part of me thinks it's unfair that the only thing holding Subban back is his height. The larger part of me thinks we need to let nature run its course. You can run, but you can't hide from natural selection. If Benning was to insert him in the line up he would be playing God. Benning isn't God guys, shame on all of you for implying that.

Lol what? His life is hard? He plays professional hockey in New York. I would imagine his life is pretty awesome right now.
I can attest to being unfairly dismissed in the sport of hockey based on my size, but I don't have (nor do I think anyone posting on this forum has) anywhere near the skill that Jordan Subban does. His brother is a Norris winner, and he's one of Utica's leading scorers...

Natural selection doesn't happen when your own GM won't give you a chance because he only sees size... natural selection would be giving your farm's best offensive Dman a legitimate shot at cracking the lineup, or at least seeing the potential for him to make that leap. Obviously I'm not putting a lot of stock in him being a gamebreaker for us, but I have absolutely no qualms about having a 5'9 OFD working as a powerplay specialist with some of our highly skilled youngsters. Especially when his name bar says "Subban".

We don't owe him anything, but he has been nowhere near a disappointment. In fact he's been improving steadily and was actually pretty good in the preseason for us. We don't have a lot of Dman that are more promising anyways, so why piss all over the kid now?

He didn't even get a game in the preseason this year. That is how short he is.

Hahaha, JB is like "I have seen enough, scram, go on now, get outta here"

in all seriousness, behind closed doors he couldn't pass the wet paper bag test. Linden Vey just made it out, but no matter how hard Subban tried he couldn't get out of that stupid wet bag. They had to cut the bag open externally, almost like a c-section. They found him passed out inside due to oxygen deprivation. He is lucky to be alive.

zomg we need a giroux kane gaudreau

screw off subban yer too short

Taking in to consideration nobody posting on this forum knows what it is like to be shoved around by a dude who's only 187 yet squats 380....

It's like trying to push a weighted VW bug around while it's moving forward.  It doesn't work for most people.

I call in to question anyone who uses height as a measuring stick vs skill and desire

What you're saying may actually be true of JB's opinion of Subban, but it doesn't actually make it true.

There's a difference between being small and playing small. Linden Vey isn't even that small. He just plays like he's still in minor hockey. Jordan Subban is stronger, more evasive, and would likely only be used as a Canuck in the same way Weber has been, as a PP specialist. His upside is still far greater than Weber's ever was, imo.

Also, you're being downright disgusting to a player our team drafted and who has served us well over the last few years. What the hell did JS ever do to you? He's played very well in Utica. Any success he has is just gravy for us, nobody's really counting on anything from him. So to the end, I don't really see your point at all.

Do you know what leverage is?

Like when you can't break a rusty old nut with a regular wrench so you use a snipe to extend the length of the wrench, or a breaker bar. Ever wondered why making the handle longer gets that rusty ole Nut broke off? And why it is so much easier? It doesn't matter how beefy that short little wrench is, it's just not long enough to multiply the TQ.

You have to draw the line someplace. Ya, pound for pound he might be the strongest guy in the league, great. But Because he is so short he needs to use twice the effort to move the same player off the puck as I guy like Hutton.

There has got to be a reason why there are very few 5'9" Dmen in the history of the NHL.

An ant is like the strongest creature on the planet pound for pound but could an ant stop a frog from eating it?
