To be clear, I don't mean to hate on him, I just expect more. If you single him out when watching live, his lack of hockey IQ and fitness is apparent.

I'm a Canucks fan and I want him to do well. I hope he can mature before it's too late.

Fastest skater on the team.

I only hope, that when he scores 15, or even 20 goals this year that people give him some credit.  All the hate is a little much.

he shows glimpses but like coach Green said we need to see that on as close to a nightly basis as possible then yes he will be an effective, useful, productive player for us. Minimum 20g a year if he can be engaged, wonder if he can turn into a PK specialist using his speed and be a scoring threat like former Canuck Grabner?

Oh, I agree, and I am guilty of being critical as well, particularily that 1st day, but I do feel he was much improved on day 2 and 3.  I really think, given a full season, he will be a 20 goal scorer.  It would also be nice if they played him on his off wing more, seems much more effective from there.

I agree he was drafted as a LW in junior. He is built like Ovie, who also plays the off wing. Would love to see him get a long look on the LW, but we are quite deep on the right side...

Dale Tallon was 3rd in D scoring for the entire NHL in his rookie season. Some guy named Orr and J.C. Trembley were the only 2 D with more points. Pretty hard to not consider Tallon for comparison purposes.

Way before my time.  But granted, Hughes has two comparables, both were here for short periods of time decades ago.  Hopefully Hughes has more staying power.

Gotta say, JV is such a let down.  Green made him an example and he is the goat at camp.

Was ready to have a good pre season, sitting back without alot of controversy.  Now Brock is a hold out and Jake is ready for camp.

Contract stuff is normal.  Having a 4 year pro regress after so much work has been spent on him is not okay.

I was at the game today and watched Jake a bunch, honestly hoping to see something contrary to what people have been saying...but what I saw was unfortunately as described by most, he just skates around with out a real purpose and looks pissed off, several times he turned to refs looking for a call on board battles that he lost. He just doesn’t have the same hockey IQ and devotion to the game as most other guys

A bit harsh.

His strong points: affable, seems to avoid concussions in spite of leading the team in hits, has shown real improvement. Bang for the buck last year?  Not highly paid, but got more than 15 goals and led the team in hits.  Compare with other forwards: Sutter, Eriksson, Goldobin, Beagle, Motte, etc.

Re: autographs.  Watch videos on Bayern Munich's football team: team is fantastic in the way it treats its fans -- everybody signs autographs, the whole team, and often for half an hour straight.  Interviews are fantastic.  (Players learn German fast, team treats them like Gods.  No bad mouthing athletes whatsoever by coach/mgt.)

What I'm saying is that this is not about Jake: with leadership from management, Jake would be happy to sign autographs.  Probably a bit sensitive about things right now, given his fitnsess/stress situation.

That’s a good point re autographs. I suppose had he stopped some would say he should clean up his act before basking in the fans glory

he he is a pro though, his only job is to be a hickey player so in mind mind there is no excuse for not putting in the work and effort

There is no excuse for coming into camp unprepared, I agree completely.  What we don't know is to what degree he is unprepared: 30 pounds overweight and no weight-training is one thing, 10 pounds under or overweight and not quite aerobically fit is another.  He plays a physical game which can be demanding, some don't.  I was hoping that Ferland would show him the way re: preparation, how to pace himself over a season.   We'll see  I guess.

yep I had high hopes for jake  , but I really thinks he needs an attitude adjustment , I remember a few year back in a interview he had  where he  was describing what hank and danny  did after a road trip  , where they rode their bikes from Richmond , did the grouse grind and went home  .and jake is laughing like it was a big joke. I thought why the hell is jake laughing for, that is something jake should be doing instead of making light of it . like learn from the 2 fitness freaks on team .

i don't know about jake he has all the tools but no tool box it seems ,  i hope he get its soon i can see why green is  patient with jake , but how long is it gonna last
