Because not everyone is thick enough to actually think those kind of qualities describe Nylander and Ehlers. You don't have to put down other players to raise Virtanen's stock.

Hockey IQ is a relative term. Generally an intelligent player will realize when a certain approach is not working and change some aspect of what they're doing. Virtanen - like you said - is trying to force things that have worked for him his entire career. He hasn't shown the ability to adapt. The problem with this is given his physical attributes he will always find some level of success with this approach. I just don't want him to become reliant on being a one man show, because clearly it isn't apparent to him that changing his game to a more team oriented approach is a very real option. In a worst case scenario we end up with Booth, a player that has lost confidence in his shot and only knows how to hit and skate. Tunnel vision can be coached out of a player, contrary to popular opinion. But it has to start now.

I think that's a good analysis. Jake's the perfect example of a tools but no toolbox player. I think for him to solidify his pro game he'll need to have a lot of one on one time with coaches and staff. Not sure if Calgary can provide that, oh how I wish he was eligible for Utica.

For once I want Benning to do the wrong thing and send the kids back to juniors. A top 10 defenseman in next years draft would be the icing on the cake for this team. I'm looking at you Fabbro, Bean and Chychrun.

The Taken King expansion is absolutely incredible. Never bought either of the other two DLC's but purchased TTK on a whim and it's completely changed my mind about this game. Just thought I'd put it out there for anyone who gave up on it like I did early on.
