Flames to retire Miikka Kiprusoff‘s No. 34
Nucker 67 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
Howdy boys, last year was a sh**show and fans are pi$$ed! Treliving messed things up so bad, hopefully he'll continue to do that in Teranna. I reckon we need to give the fanbase a boost, get things kicked off on the right footing this season. We need a feel good story fast. Think boys, think! -
I like that Draft video so much, really proves that Willander was their guy all along. They thought about trading down, but didn't want to chance losing him. Understandable. Willander is going to be a top pairing Dman for many years. Even watching him speak to them at the Combine, they were glued to his every word, he speaks so well, thoughtful and mature. Natural born leader. Excited to think of the Hughes - Willander pairing one day. It's going to be dominant.

[Signing] Bruins sign Michael DiPietro

Studnicka's got a better chance of getting into the Top 6, than DiPietro has of becoming a good NHL goalie.. -
2023 Canucks Development Camp
Nucker 67 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Prospects / Farm Team
Well, Paterson isn't wrong about the lack of top end talent at development camp. No mention of Alriksson, Sasson, Bloom, Zlodeyev, McWard, who were all pretty good too. I also think the Canucks have some decent younger talent developing in Abby as well Hoglander (will likely make the big team next year) Raty Karlsson McDonough Klimovich Bains Woo Johansson Rathbone Silovs Kravtsov (rights) -
The Rough Tough Canucks of 1994 Stanley Cup Finals

Yeah, Bure might've been the exception back then, as far as slow hockey. He was ahead of his time. -
The Rough Tough Canucks of 1994 Stanley Cup Finals
Nucker 67 replied to RolexSub's topic in Canucks Talk
Hockey was a lot slower back in the 80s and 90s, more of a physical game with lax rules. I think today, it's more about speed, skating, skill and IQ, and players are being called for everything. -
The upside with Willander was too much to pass on. The Canucks weren't going to risk losing him by moving down. They wanted their guy and they got him. That great skating, and his big brain, the maturity and focus on becoming better. He's still a kid and already a pretty big player. Just wait until he grows into a man and has a couple of extra years development. IMO, Willander will be one of the best D in the league in 5 years.

[article] Beauvillier a good option at center? (2019)
Nucker 67 replied to Ted Lasso's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
They just brought in Blueger to be the #3C -
Can't really vote. Offer sheeting Lafreniere, for me, would have nothing to do with '94.

[Speculation] Canucks exploring Tyler Myers trade
Nucker 67 replied to brian42's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
So, the two teams Karlsson was the star on, just happened to be really terrible teams? Sure, give him an award for that -
[Speculation] Canucks exploring Tyler Myers trade
Nucker 67 replied to brian42's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
It's not really about the best defensive player. Last year Karlsson won it for the 3rd time, with a -26. Best defensive player? Nope, it was that 101 points that won it for him. The award is actually for the best D player, who demonstrates the best all-around ability (offense and defense) Still, Karlsson shouldn't have won last year, he was bad defensively. -
I'm not sure what's more interesting, what the Top 6 will look like, or the Bottom 6. Top 6 - Kuzmenko, Pettersson, Beauvillier, Boeser, Miller, Mikheyev, Garland (someone has to go) My Guess: Kuzmenko - Pettersson - Boeser Mikheyev - Miller - Beauvillier Bottom 6 - Podkolzin, Blueger, Hoglander, Joshua, Aman, DiGiuseppe, Studnicka, Dries, Pearson, Karlsson, McDonough, Bains, Klimovich (around 6 players need to go (Abby etc) My Guess: Hoglander - Blueger - Joshua DiGiuseppe - Aman - Podkolzin Pearson*

The Canucks need to improve their PK, so I wonder if they have plans to bring Bains up to the big club next season?

[Signing] Coyotes sign Travis Dermott

I guess he's okay, wish he could've been okay for the Canucks -

Really nervous that the Canucks will trade Myers for Lebanc. They would lose so much in this deal, because it sounds like they'd also have to include the 2025 2nd round pick to SJ. If the Canucks hang onto Myers until the 2024 TDL, they could probably fetch a 1st for him. Seriously. He's a big, right shot D who will only be making a million for the season? Lots of teams would love that kind of depth going into the playoffs. It would be a big mistake trading Myers right now IMO -
Tocchet was involved in some gambling scheme? You make it sound like he did something really bad. Even jaywalking is illegal, but who's calling that guy a criminal? If Tocchet brings the Canucks a Cup, that's all that matters.

[Signing] Rangers re-sign K’Andre Miller

That is some fine acting and the Oscar goes to....Hulk Hogan in "Ouch, You Squeezed My Hand" -
Finally, a coach who demands effort and accountability. I'm not sure any of the players really took to heart when Desjardins and Green spoke. Boudreau was just having a good time, watching the Canucks every other night from the best seat in the house. He didn't demand anything though. Torts was too over the top and players probably hated him (instead of respecting). AV was great, but that was 10+ years ago. Tocchet is the guy that will get them there, and if players aren't willing to do what they have to do, they'll be gone. Really like this new management/coaching regime. They were brought in to build a championship team and I feel confident they will.
