  1. I think tryamkin woo would be somewhat redundant and Brisebois' calm play would free up a Woo's aggressive style the same way as Juolevi could. That Brisbois is older and makes the NHL probably before Woo might make him likely Woo's first partner.
  2. Problem I see with them contending in 2019-20 is I bet the Canucks take the best two wingers next year AND Demko. Downgrading the forwards some and giving the goaltending back to Bachman with Dipietro learning the ropes as backup.
  3. And the other problem being it is unlikely the Canucks are deep enough to send down a surplus center. A scenario where they signed another NHL center AND Petterssen or Gagner was slotted to start at center might maybe push Gaudette to the AHL. But I really can't see them doing that to the Hobey Baker Winner after not sending him to Utica last year.
  4. Looks like the wing talent in Utica will be impressive. I do hope we see one more top AHL center signed to add to what I perceive to be Kero MacEwen Darcy at the moment. As far as a number one defenceman goes, another big step forward from Brisebois this summer might just solve that dilemma. He was a minute munching top defender in junior and team leader. I think he will need to show that ability and leadership this year if he plans to be the NHL d man he was projected to be. Hopefully he comes to camp this year stronger and faster.
  5. Or Olli running the second power play with the more adventurous Gaudette and throw himself into every play Dahlen. I think that first PP with EP on right wall and BB on left wall only needs one point man as both the rocket launchers can drift up to the point as necessary and Hughes is as much a danger to shoot as Henrik. While Bo needs another puck hound down low with him. Eventually that is probably Gads. To begin with Baertchi or Leipsic.
  6. If anyone is concerned about EP playing a longer NHL season next year than Europe this year, it seems between SHL, playoffs and multiple international tournaments this year he played some 85 games.
  7. I don't think size is a problem here. How did Alex Debrincat do this year?
  8. Really needed this goalie depth behind Miketendy imho. My guess we will need this guy as our #2 in Utica as soon as he is ready for the role. With Miketendy Utica's number 1 and Bachman contract expired
  9. And whether your cat is a pet or dinner.
  10. Problem is we have this Goalie shortage for a bit if we don't draft our way out of it. Dipietro is a year away (I think) from AHL availability. And Demko should be NHL bound by the time Dipietro gets to Utica. So we need two development goalies in our system now and for the foreseeable future.
  11. Maybe. But why do I think Dahlen gets outplayed by Jasek while Dahlen outplays all the left wingers.....then things get really interesting.
  12. You mean until EP develops into the greatest hockey players in the world. No?
  13. Yes. Yes it would. But not gonna happen.
  14. Not quite right Rollie. There is a tournament involving the top 4 Allsvenskan teams and the bottom two Shl teams. Timra dominated regular season and the first tournament round to get the right to play the last place Shl team and beat them in the series to advance to the SHL. Thus Timra was better than the last place team in the SHL. Really just a little more impressive and conclusive that Dahlen was the primary offensive force of a team equal or better than the lower SHL teams. Dahlen should at least be an very good AHL player this coming season. Maybe quite a bit better.
  15. I was thinking more of a free agent. I think we would have a hard time getting EP's brother out of Nashville without a massive overpayment and I don't think we should have to pay anything for a first line offensive center for our AHL team. Not that it isn't a nice conceptual idea just I don't think a practical one.
  16. Ok. So maybe not exactly that but that he won't start as a center. Was taken from this quote: "This year, Pettersson played a month of centre, and he’ll come over here and start on the wing,” Benning said. “But at some point, I want to move him to the middle. I don’t know if that will be three months, a year or two years." The point is still the same that we need centers for next year at NHL and AHL level.
  17. Pettersen is a c/rw and Benning has said won't be a C his rookie year and my guess is he might need to play LW to get with the right type of players to succeed. Dahlen is a C/LW so maybe Utica has a plan there. Gaudette would look killer between Dahlen and Jasek in the AHL but I doubt we do that. Gaunce has waivers to clear and isn't the playmaker we need. Motte didn't appear to be the right guy for that role either with what I have seen of him. Dowd is a center and UFA but don't think we sign him or he clears waivers. Is there a guy like Cal O'Reilly was a couple years back to be had? Valk would sure fill that role nicely now if he hadn't jumped ship.
  18. I think EP is not like Mcdavid at all. My comparables for him have been he is Gretzky lite or Kent Nilsson like. Talented tall lanky guy. Neither of those comparables ever made a playing weight of 200. But both were 100 point plus players in the 80's. Wayne got better results from similar talent and probably a higher hockey IQ. But it is harder to score now and despite the fact EP will dangle, dazzle, and amaze like those two did we will see how many points and trophies that means. I really think EP surpasses Boeser and Bo sooner rather than later. And makes those around him better than McJesus does his teammates.
  19. That ain't gonna happen this year though.
  20. Will be better if Juolevi can step in and bring up the quality of play some too.
  21. and third pair is where he should be games when we have a healthy D group.
  22. Yeah. I threw Pouliot at 7th D because he plays both sides though and I thought that made things clearer. Frankly I thought he outplayed Stecher too.
  23. But who would you have to waive to keep Joulevi up? Edler Guddy mdz tanev Hutton Stecher That is the incumbent starting 6 to me. then we have Pouliot Juolevi. Ok. then we send down everyone else. Who isn't waiver eligible that you are worried about? Beiga, Sautner, McEneny, maybe Weircoch? Who did I miss? And if any of those guys want to make the team they better outplay Juolevi, Pouliot and Hutton. But if we sign much in free agents this can all change.
  24. But when do we ever start the year with our top 6 d healthy? And we usually carry 8 D. I don't have an issue saying Olli is one of our 8 and plays every second game for the first two weeks. Someone will get hurt that fast anyway and Olli will take a couple weeks to start to settle in and a couple press box games will give him cerebral perspective. Yes he needs to play and when everyone is healthy if he isn't truly top 6 he can go down for a few games and get top pair minutes in Utica. Our D is so injury prone it will not be more than a few games.
