  1. Mellow yellow? Couldn't find any so he tried to make his own and dropped a bud in the toilet... Now he just needs a hug...
  2. I just hope cooler heads prevail and value team performance vs. personal gain.
  3. While I can understand that sentiment, I'll give you the flipside. If you're on said sh***y team in a sh***y place with sh***y team mates, would you really want to tie yourself down with a long term high $ contract that basically guarantees you staying there, or would you rather have a tradable contract that'll give you an out? There wouldn't be a lot of teams in the position to make that kind of a deal. If Mcdavid is frustrated with a $12.5 million contract, kinda shows that he cares more about winning and playing good hockey than contract value. Say the cap would be $8 million. Mcdavid would be making the max, Draisaitl would probably be making ~$7 mill or so. That would be $6 million off the current cap, allowing you to sign supporting players to help fill holes in your roster, something like a top 6 forward, a couple bottom 6 forwards, a top 4 d-man, depth players etc... A 2-3 year $8 million contract isn't anything to scoff at, imo.
  4. Yeah, that's kinda my point. Just my opinion on what I'd like to see them do.
  5. So the limit rule would apply to those who are still on their ELCs
  6. I wouldn't imagine there being a penalty like that attached to the proposed rule. If you can't sign a 2nd contract to an RFA past a certain $ limit, there'd be nothing to penalize.
  7. The maximum salary for a 2nd RFA contract as I meant it wouldn't target existing contracts, it's more likely something that gets grandfathered in with the next CBA, should the NHLPA agree. It's not really taking a pay cut if you were making league minimum on an ELC, then get signed to a $7 million/year contract. Your Somalia line is an extreme example of hyperbole btw... As much as it pains me to say it, Edmonton and Buffalo are miles better.
  8. This, plus if we signed him we really would be in cap hell as some have suggested in other topics (relax, we're not). Also, I wouldn't mind seeing a maximum salary for an RFA coming off their ELC in the next CBA. $10 million is a grotesque figure for someone like Laine. That's more like UFA, proved his worth, in the prime of his career kind of $.
  9. Those twitter fans are looking at the results of the last 4 years though, unlike those on this site who debate extensively on every little aspect of this team (and the rest of the league), so I say they only count as a half person each. #FakeFans
  10. Ah, my bad, must have missed it... just saw the article on nhl, didn't see it on here. But seeing how its August now, teams have a better idea of areas on their rosters in need of improvement. May be worth a discussion...
  11. Trying to trick us with that last question eh there bud? I don't think anyone's happy with not making the playoffs, but seeing effort and compete every night from a young group on the come-up will compensate for that. I don't see either TG or JB in any trouble, unless we turn into the second coming of Ottawa... And the 'C' on Tryamkin... nope. I think it's pretty clear who our captain is.
  12. https://www.nhl.com/news/rasumus-ristolainen-buffalo-sabres-contract-talks/c-308493256 Rasmus Ristolainen said he hasn't been able to enjoy hockey and that he has had talks with the Buffalo Sabres about his future with the team. "Nothing had been decided," the defenseman told MTV Sport in Finland in an interview published Saturday that was translated by NHL.com. "All I can say is that come Sept. 12, I will attend an NHL team training camp. Don't know which team, though, at this point. We want to keep the discussions just between myself and the team." The 24-year-old has three seasons remaining on a six-year, $32.4 million contract (average annual value of $5.4 million) he signed with Buffalo on Oct. 11, 2016. The Sabres have been busy this offseason after missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the eighth consecutive season. Ralph Krueger was hired to replace Phil Housley as coach May 15, forward Jimmy Vesey (New York Rangers) and defensemen Colin Miller (Vegas Golden Knights) and Henri Jokiharju(Chicago Blackhawks) were acquired in trades, and forward Marcus Johansson signed a two-year contract as a free agent July 6. But their future might not include Ristolainen, who was selected by Buffalo with the No. 8 pick in the 2013 NHL Draft. He had 43 points (five goals, 38 assists) and an NHL-worst minus-41 rating in 78 games last season, and has 194 points (36 goals, 158 assists) and a minus-143 rating in 424 regular-season games over six seasons, all with the Sabres. "I haven't been able to help the team to win," Ristolainen said. "Last few seasons have been hard."
  13. If he played out his contract, yeah... but seeing as how we're getting hit with his recapture... FK NO!
  14. well, they do have the cap space... you may be on to something here, lol.
  15. Awesome, I was getting tired of hearing that one joke doc knows. Or the icing anecdote. I think what they should do next year is get the regional broadcast crews for each team (eg. John and John for Vancouver). Could record the voices throughout the season (they're already doing the work anyways), then you'd get actual authentic reactions to different scenarios... not a 'nucks game if you don't hear about ketchup, or some s*** from garrett
  16. 1:) First off, WD didn't talk to his "doghouse players" about why they were in the doghouse in the first place. How is Jake (and Tryamkin) supposed to improve if his coach isn't talking to him? TG does, and you can see the improvement from the second season of TG (first season Jake spent the bulk of the season in Utica). Besides, you're putting unrealistic expectations on a 22 year old. 2:) 2-way play is how teams win nowadays. If you're 1 dimensional, you're not going to have a very long or good career. It's all on Goldy to improve his defensive abilities. 3:) Seriously blaming TG for Hutton going to free agency? You realize the GM signs players right? I'm sure he would have been resigned if the $ from arbitration wouldn't have been so high (rumored to be ~$4-$4.5m last I heard). 4:) Didn't Loui complain after his one healthy scratch in 3 years? He's got no right to complain after his lackluster effort, and TG's defended him everytime. I could go on, but we don't need another Loui thread. 5:) Yes, Petey was the gem of the draft, and accounted for a lot of offense last season, but that doesn't explain the buy-in and effort from the rest of the team.
  17. In your particular case, yeah, that works (already have a job with a raise). But for most other people, moving means getting a different job (unlikely for higher pay), plus moving expenses, finding a new home in a new place... it's just not as easy as you're making it out to be.
  18. Iconic image, no doubt. Great goal for it's era. Nowadays though, wouldn't scratch the top 500.
  19. Oh? Where's that? The Philippines? Ethiopia? Not an easy feat in North America (even western europe.)
  20. Loui's putting up a $6 million anti-boeser-signing wall. (and we're paying for it!)
  21. If we're top 5 in the conference, without injury issues, I don't think we'd be moving anything. Go with the group that got you there. Wild card spot, maybe buy, depends if there's any under performance in our line-up. If we're down and out, sell, but only for the right deal. We have some winger depth now, could afford to off one or two. (Baertschi, Goldobin, etc...)
