So while last game’s result definitely sucked, especially considering how we lost, we still got a point and the other one went to an Eastern Conference team. Our team is young and I think it’s good to learn the most important lesson in hockey (that no matter what the score or what period you’re in a team can always come back) the hard way with not too much damage in the overall early points/playoff picture resulting from it. It will be a beneficial and valuable lesson that can come in handy for future games. Honestly in past years we probably wouldn’t have got a point out of a game like that. Manage your losses (even if they really really hurt and suck). They’ll bounce back this game and should be extra motivated. Predicting a win to start the streak going again. Can’t wait to watch! Go go!

[GDT] Canucks vs Capitals Diwali Night Edition Oct 25 7pm SN1
StanleyCupOneDay replied to Baer.'s topic in Canucks Talk
It’s not a goal, it’s what the team is currently on pace for after playing 10% of the season. Doesn’t mean that can’t change over the remaining 90% (which it probably will). Don’t confuse an observation as an expectation. The two are not mutually exclusive and in this case are not at all similar. Just pointing out some stats in the lead up to the game tonight to generate conversation, which this did, so mission accomplished. Cheers my friend and enjoy the game! -

Don’t look now, but the Canucks are currently on pace for a 109 point season. That would be their best result in 8 years of hockey. Good things ahead for Canucks fans win or lose tonight. -

So um is there a typo for Thiessen? Or can someone explain what happened in order for a goalie to have a 25.59 GAA from 1 game? I don’t think I’ve even ever seen double digits before. That number is crazy. -
Random fan’s thoughts: The guys were playing their 9th period of hockey in 72 hours and they crossed time zones. They didn’t sit on a lead, they were gassed because they poured all their heart and energy into the first two periods to make a statement after not scoring in New Jersey. If anything I love this kind of win more. We were up, they threw everything they had at us, but we didn’t completely break, there were cracks, but we hung in. After a 2nd back to back afternoon game across time zones (thanks NHL schedulers btw for that) we still pulled out a win, which is all that matters at the end of the season. There’s no asterisk or description besides the 2 points earned. It all counts. For those ragging on Green for not calling a timeout have you considered that the coach knew his team was out of juice? That a timeout would allow the Rangers to map out a play and rest their top guys? Maybe that Green noticed the team’s sloppy 3rd period play, realized his players were overthinking everything and thought it would be better to get the game over as soon as possible then more time spent for the team to think and make more possibly game ending mistakes? Or maybe he thought a rest wouldn’t do his players much good being that out of energy? To be honest I don’t know the answer, he could very well have just made a dumb mistake, but there are other possibilities too. Canucks fans forget our team is made up of different people. They are human, they make mistakes, what works for one may not work for another. We have no way of knowing what is going on inside any of our players or coaches, but in the end they got a win, so I’m going to cut Green some slack personally. Finally I’ll wrap up by saying that if we have two goalies that will only let in 2 or less goals in every game we’re going to be on the winning end of things much more then not. Let’s get another win streak going! GCG!

Quinn it to win it.

More. We got a steal.

I always watch 30 mins behind to avoid the commercials or I record every Canucks game. I’ve done this for years now. This was the first time where I didn’t fast forward to the next goal anticipating/fearing a blowout loss since about the 2011 cup run. I knew we could come back against the Red Wings and because I’ve seen the fight in our team to come back when down I almost expected us to come back. It feels like no lead is insurmountable, that every game is winnable and I can’t wait for the rest of this season. Win or lose, this is a different team and us fans are to benefit regardless of the scoresheet. GCG! P.S. Let’s beat St Louis and make it 4 in a row. I’ll be watching and cheering!

Canucks Goal Song Petition on Change.org
StanleyCupOneDay replied to raad_luongo's topic in Canucks Talk
I personally love the song. Hope it stays. Engages the fans and makes the building loud to cheer on our boys after they put one between the pipes. Holiday was great for a past era of which I will always cherish. It’s time for something new. I think people will grow to like the song. It’s simple, but if I heard that in an opponents building as a Canuck fan I honestly would hate it. Reminds me of Chelsea’s dagger in a way. I bet hearing that song on loop for 8 goals made LA hate it. It’s great when it’s your side hearing those types of songs after goals, but awful for the opponents. There’s something to be said for psychology in hockey, players have emotions that can be effected. Now of course it’s up for debate if there are better songs out there as this thread shows, so this is just one fan’s opinion. Take with a grain of salt. -
Yes and I for one can’t wait to get my playoff hockey flags flying again. Gonna be a great season
