  1. I still respect Linden but I do admit that I lost a bit of respect for him during the 1996 playoffs when Claude Lemieux was rag dolling him while taking opportunities to fart on his head.
  2. Nucks continue their hot streak and take advantage over a Canes team that will be playing it's 3rd game in 4th night. Nucks are streaking and will be looking to inch closer back into a playoff spot. Their confidence is riding sky high and tonight's game will likely mean more to the Nucks than it will Carolina. 3-2 Canucks
  3. I want someone that is currently in the NHL, has a strong familiarity with the current NHL landscape, and is working alongside a current highly successful NHL GM here in North America. That's why I want MacFarland.........or maybe even Carolina's AssGM
  4. I'm kind of 'meh' about it. For me, it's Chris MacFarland. Anyone else from Sweden, Finland, or Antarctica can &^@# off.
  5. Price and Sekeres are trash. Canucks could potentially trade with anyone not just Pittsburgh. Rutherford’s previous ties with Pittsburgh might have some factor but there’s no guarantee at all that we trade with them. Price is just talking out of his ass against for attention.
  6. Arizona would only get Motte in that 3-way? :-o With regards to Miller, here is my take. About 7-10 days ago, I was onboard with trading *both* Miller and Horvat for two elite prospects while tanking this season, but I then came to my senses and realized that deliberately tanking would kill the spirit of our team and would potentially lead to a number of players requesting trades.........and so I decided to nix that fantasy. HOWEVER - if the Canucks “give it their all” between now and the deadline and still look like they realistically won’t make the playoffs, then I absolutely would move JT Miller for an elite RHD prospect like Braden Schneider. A Miller for Schneider deal would not only likely allow us to move on from Hamonic when the time comes (season after next), but would also allow us to comfortably re-up both Horvat and Boeser. I know Boeser is not having a great season but he’ll likely turn it around at some point. Petey as well. So yes - move Miller for a young RHD if we are out of it come trade deadline.
  7. Hopefully Skinner gives that Ref the Steve Moore treatment. So sick of the refs and their bs. NHL refs are the most corrupt refs in the nhl. I will die a happy man if Kelly Sutherland gets Steve Moore’d one day. I still recall his treatment of the Canucks between 2009-2013.
  8. Myers + 2023 1st for Connor Murphy + 2nd round? I hate to admit it, but our 1st could be in play again to make that happen while using Myers as a sweetener. Myers + 2023 1st for a youngish 'defensive defenseman' Top 4 RHD that wouldn't look completely out of place as top pairing guy. Maybe something around Myers + 2023 1st to Chicago for Connor Murphy and a 2nd round pick. We increase our cap space and fill a more important positional need. Then, in an independent deal, we move Pearson for a 3rd rounder. Making these moves should allow us to comfortably re-sign Boeser (2022), Horvat (2023), and Miller (2023) when the time comes. I'm sure there is a better solution to the one that I'm proposing above, but this is the only thing that comes to mind.
  9. I had forgotten that we had a general hockey talk section on here and so when I saw this thread on the main board, I posted without considering the context. I made a mistake.
  10. Is depth really bare though? I mean, we just took out a pretty decent Jets team without OEL and Hamonic. Agreed with our depth isn't equivalent to that of an elite team, but we seem to be holding our end as well. Petey and Brock have been better lately but we've also been playing without the *real* Petey and Brock throughout most of this year.
  11. The "statistical probability" and "analytics" crowd do have a great point, in that, the stats are NOT on our side in terms of making the playoffs, but that's what makes sports so great. Odds gets broken all the time and teams/players get hot at any given point. I hate to say it, but that's why a lot of these "statistical probability" and "advanced analytics" type people were nerds and virgins in high school. Athletics is a whole different animal and that's why you see a lot of teams and players defying the odds more than one might think: For example - if we had told any of these "statistical probability" types that the Canucks would win 5 of their next 6 games last week, we would have been laughed out of the building. What were our "statistical probabilities" in 1994 before we dashed to the cup? In the world of sports, anything can happen at any given point. With respect to the "statistical probability" crowd and their immense talents (they are often smart people that land very good jobs), there's a reason why they don't make it as athletes.
  12. I suspect that the Canucks will make a decision with regards to direction at the trade deadline. The Canucks' performance between now and the trade deadline will influence our decision making going forward imo.
  13. I suspect that Boudreau doesn't want Dickinson at center since it's not a natural position for him, whereas having Miller, Horvat, and Petey down the middle gives us a big advantage down the middle. Personally? I would have tried the following lines: Miller-Horvat-Boeser (or Hoglander) Podkolzin-Pettersson-Garland With Dickinson and Petey anchoring our 3rd line, but perhaps Boudreau feels that a 3rd line like that would be too weak. I was on canuckscorner last night and I also saw some criticisms of Pearson. While I agree that both Dickinson and Pearson are a bit offensively challenged, I think their defensive games are pretty solid. Dickinson may have been a bit off last night but I've noticed him playing a lot better under Boudreau as well. He was playing with some physicality in the LA and Boston games.
  14. One game at a time + 'win the week.' Lets try and get to .500 first. Once we do that, then we can start creating shoestring long term plans.
  15. and I look forward to tonights game between the Canucks and the Jets. #GoCanucks
  16. Nothing to do with the Canucks and so I don't give a $&!# about him or his accomplishments.
  17. It’s the leagues’ fault. When guys like Marchand do it, the narrative is, “Marchand is dirty but boy oh boy he is one heck of a hockey player.” When Alex Burrows used to do some dirty things, he was attacked on a personal level with regards to his character and integrity as a human being. It’s why from 2011-2013, I contend that the treatment that the Canucks received from the league was on the same level of treatment that many African Americans receive in the United States. The referees tried to sabotage the Canucks in their series’ against Chicago 2011, Boston 2011, LA 2012, and San Jose 2013. The Marchand-Sedin 2011 incident made absolutely no sense and resulted in Daniel getting a misconduct while Boychuk was basically allowed to break Raymond’s back without penalty. A year later, Duncan Keith was basically allowed to commit a felony on Daniel and only received a 4 Game suspension.
  18. I hope we find a way to keep both Horvat and Miller.
  19. The reason why they love Gillis is because Gillis positions himself as a "progressive thinker" that prioritizes advanced analytics (all GM's actually use advanced analytics to varying degrees but the boys at HF didn't get the memo on that one). Basically, Gillis fits the image of what "The Athletic" tries to push onto its loyal followers (i.e. HFCanucks). The Athletic also positions itself as 'forward thinking' and 'anti-dinosaur' and so that's why their cult-like following (HF Canucks) also love Gillis and were willing to overlook the fact that Gillis' amateur scouting was just as brutal as Benning's pro scouting.
  20. They seemed to quite happy with the Boudreau signing as was I. From what I gather, they seem to think that Rutherford is a dinosaur that is trigger happy when it comes to moving firsts?
