  1. Definitely going to have to make sure I go see this kid play when he comes to play the Ice. He is probably the player I'm most interested in from the 2020 draft. I was hoping to of seen him live by now but this Covid is a S.O.B.
  2. Great posts. Just because he didn't get an NHL contract doesn't mean he can't keep working and earn himself an AHL contract for next season with any team. Not saying it's going to happen, and I know how far beyond cliché it is at this point for this fan base, but there is no reason he can't put the work in and turn in to another Burrows for any team willing to take a chance. Wishing him nothing but the best of luck in all of his future endeavors whatever they may be.
  3. Almost as if I said it was just "one of many metrics that paint an incredibly unflattering picture of a player that was playing sheltered offensive minutes and was a defensive liability in all situations"
  4. Yes... that is 100% clearly and unequivocally the point I was making...
  5. #48 would absolutely have to be included. 2 years ago it cost Arizona #14 and #45 just to move up 3 spots to #11 so they could get Söderström.
  6. Sure do. As one of many metrics that paint an incredibly unflattering picture of a player that was playing sheltered offensive minutes and was a defensive liability in all situations. I mean, come on, he's playing for probably the most defensive minded coach in the entire NHL and he still can't figure out defence. Just as a quick comparison for you MDZ was better than Jones in every category except for points while starting far more shifts in the D zone.
  7. I really don't care about all the personal, off-ice things that people here are saying as reasons not to sign him, as long as he isn't Anthony DeAngelo level crazy and ignorant I'd be fine with us signing him if he was a better player. My reason for not wanting him is that I see him as a wildly overrated dman that I've never really liked.
  8. According to Dayal and Drance at The Athletic, Plasek's ELC is being done with the intention of getting him in to the farm system and adjusting to the North American game as quickly as possible and the contract will not have any type of European Out Clause.
  9. I didn't see anyone post this here so I'd thought I throw it up, it's only a month and half late lol. Chris Faber at CanucksArmy did a very good break down of McDonough for their prospect countdown and in it he seems to be very confident that he is returning to Northeastern next year. https://canucksarmy.com/2021/04/09/canucks-prospects-rankings-7-aidan-mcdonoughs-shot-ready-pro-hockey-rounding-out-rest-game-ncaa/
  10. The Draft Lottery will be held on Wednesday, June 2nd
  11. I know I should fully temper expectations but after 4 years of rookies coming in and seizing top roles in the offence and defense I fully expect the same from Podkolzin. I fully expect he is going to come to training camp and impress the coaching staff in drills and intra-squad games finally working his way to a top 6 role in the preseason that he will never let go of.
  12. Freedom of Speech means the government can't arrest you for what you are saying. It doesn't mean that anyone has to listen to what you say or host you on there platform while you say it. The Right to Freedom of Speech doesn't shield you from criticism or consequences. And it certainly doesn't give people the right to harass Bennings teenage daughter because they don't like what Benning is doing. As I said before, it has nothing to do with her. It's the same if people on this forum knew who you were in real life and then proceeded to harass your children based on the comments you post on this site. Legally it's allowed, ethically its unquestionably immoral and reprehensible.
  13. Sure but why should his daughter have to hear it? What does it have to do with her? A person can criticize Benning all they want, that's fair game, but it's not like she is in the room saying 'Dad, sign Eriksson to a 6 yr $6 million contract pleeeeease' People need to learn how to separate personal life from professional life. Quit trying to make this a freedom of speech or civil rights issue, it's not.
  14. The fringe players who had to struggle and earn every second of ice time may make for better coaches but I think what we are seeing right now is that the former NHL stars make very good GM's, just look at Sakic, Murray, Yzerman, Sweeney, Francis, Blake, Guerin, even Hextall and more this season than the last few Bergevin. All of those GMs have over 1,000 NHL games played, with the obvious exception of Hextall, he's 49th all time in games played for a goalie and only 3 goalies in NHL history have topped 1,000 games. I believe that this is more of the end goal for bringing the Sedins back.
  15. 2008 as well. It is very rare to have a draft that is defensively top heavy. Most teams want to draft the high end offensive talent early so it will be very interesting to see how it all shakes out after the lottery on the 2nd. All the mock drafts right now are a crap shoot. I think this will be one of the most interesting drafts to watch and also to look back on in 10 years once we know how all these players turn out.
  16. I wouldn't say they are competing for the same spot. I'd say Lind is more likely a middle 6 forward, probably best suited for the 3rd line but can move up to the 2nd if needed and Lockwood is more of a bottom six guy. A great, high energy physical type of forward best suited for the 4th line but can also move up to the 3rd in an effort to spark some energy amongst his teammate. Very similar to Motte with maybe a little less offensive upside and a little more physicality.
  17. Exactly. This season was an anomaly not the norm. 56 games in 102 days is unheard of and a little unreasonable in pro hockey. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
  18. I agree with almost everything you have to say except after watching the Benning interview on Donnie and Dhali that bertuzzipunch posted I can understand why Juolevi wasn't played that much down the stretch even after we had been eliminated. Benning stated that Olli was one of the hardest hit players during the Covid outbreak. He lost a considerable amount of strength and conditioning and also dropped about 15 lbs which would have been extremely difficult to come back from and remain competitive on a night after night basis, especially with our extremely compacted post Covid schedule. I'm just speculating on this part but I expect the lack of playing time had less to do with Green not liking the player (which is still absolutely possible) and more to do with Green observing him in practice and talking to the player about when he felt good enough enough be back in game shape. I have a 35 year old coworker who spent 12 days in a medically induced coma on a ventilator after getting Covid and having his lungs completely shut down. The hardest part for him now is that he has to re-learn how to do many tasks and can only manage to walk about 10 to 15 steps before becoming completely winded and needing an hour long break to regain his breath. Obviously Olli was nowhere near that sick but it does provide some insight into why he may not of gotten so much game time after being sick. Edit: I just saw your edit lol.
  19. Don't think we'd be able to afford him, but for me, the best 3C on the market would be Phillip Danault. Statistically Bo is already a high end 2C. Since the 2016-17 season Bo is 36th among all NHL centers in points and 26th in goals.
  20. Thats very true, and JB stated as much at the draft after making the pick that they figured any player they picked at 10 would most likely be at least 2 years out but he could of gone after any of Soderstrom, Caufield, Boldy, York, Newhook or Krebs. All of whom he could of tried to rush and bring in after 1 more season of development instead.
  21. It's possible but JB also drafted Podkolzin, who was absolutely the BPA at that pick, and was known to have 2 years left on his KHL contract before being able to come to the NHL in 2019 when his contract as GM was about to expire, had no idea if he was getting an extension and had fans, even then calling for him to be let go. He has shown already in the past that he will do what he thinks of best for the success of the franchise as opposed to worrying about saving his job.
  22. Cuz no GM in the league has ever had to buyout a contract a couple of years after giving it out or trade away high draft picks or grade A prospects to get another team to take a bad contract that they had signed...
  23. Yeah I'm hoping for that. I've been looking at a few list lately and all of those guys except for Clarke and Ceulemans obviously have been all over the boards. I'm not overly interested in Heimosalmi due to his size as you pointed out but as for the others I've seen all over. Morrow - mid 1st to early 2nd Mailloux - early 2nd to early 4th (lol) Bar - mid 2nd to mid 3rd Schmidt - mid 2nd to late 3rd Ideally for me we'd get Clarke or Ceulemans in the 1st, Morrow or Mailloux in the 2nd and Bar or Schmidt in the 3rd. If we have to make some trades to make that happen I'd be fine with that. And then I'm sure there will be plenty of others late in the draft that would be well worth taking a chance on at basically any position.
  24. I really think this is the year for the team to focus on drafting RHD in the first few rounds. Between the fact that it is probably our weakest position in our prospect pool only having 2 real RHD prospects in Woo and Persson and just how valuable they can be on the trade market if we were to develop a surplus, a la Carolina or Anaheim, in the future. I would be ecstatic if somehow we were able to walk away with three or four of Clarke, Ceulemans, Heimosalmi, Morrow, Mailloux, Bar or Roman Schmidt in the first three or four rounds. Wishful thinking I guess.
  25. We drafted Joni Jurmo with our 3rd round pick, which was our first pick in the last draft. He is a Finnish 6'4 200lb LHD that is an incredibly smooth, quick skater. Needs another year or so in Liiga to work on his reads and develop some more strength around the crease but he projects to be a slightly more offensive version of Olli Määttä
