  1. I would have Quinn over Zegras, but thye must have valued Zegras being younger.
  2. I'm thinking 80G-35A-115 points for this upcoming season
  3. I was kind of a loser growing up, so I had lots of time to commit to sports. However, when I got more "popular" and starting hanging out with people more, I didn't dedicate myself to sports as much. It was also easier to do because Vancouver wasn't very good for that stretch, but I used to watch every televised game (especially Saturdays on CBC), but now I don't (if I'm hanging out or whatever). Losing Jim Hughson was huge, as Saturday games suck if it's not John and John or Chris Cuthbert calling them, and the team is only middle of the pack versus a serious contender. This goes for other sports as well, though NFL is easier to accommodate for since Sunday and Monday are more like rest days for me. I still love the Canucks and sports, but I like enjoying life along with it, rather than revolving my life around sports.
  4. Calgary's team is better than last year, especially for playoffs. They improved on defense by getting Weegar, and then they got better down the middle with Kadri, and also getting Huberdeau over Gaudreau (which I think is an improvement). They might have a shorter window with this group, but it's letting more light in.
  5. You are correct! Free agents can only sign for 7 years, but can re-sign for 8 years with their current team.
  6. Yes, but backup goalies are everyone's favourite. Schneider and Lack here, Toskala in San Jose (made the right choice to trade him), and Lehner in Vegas.
  7. I think we want more mobility in the back-end, which Logan is not
  8. Huberdeau>Gaudreau Especially for playoffs. I think the Flames will take a hit in the regular season, but be better in the playoffs
  9. I had a dream we lost 2-1 in game 5 of the Cup Finals and Ottawa won the Cup.

All-Canadian Final? Did Gary Bettman get blackmailed in this dream of yours?

  10. The 2012 playoffs was a good year for the Kings to go on a run because they faced relatively weak competition for a playoff (no Daniel Canucks, an overachieving Blues team, a surprising but underwhelming Coyotes team, and then a Devils team led by two wingers and an old Brodeur in the Finals). I think Calgary in 04 was a true cinderella team, which of course was right before the salary cap era, but usually there aren't true underdogs in the cap era (Montreal would have been one, and Nashville who got swept would be another).
  11. That's a nice player getting a solid chunk of change to play 3rd pair.
  12. I like this deal, especially with the possibility of filling in for the oft-injured Murray.
  13. To be fair, I would have loved this return for Brock, so Minnesota should have been happy with the non-deal, not us :p
  14. Well for context, the person I quoted was responding to Stamkos, MacKinnon, Hedman, and Landeskog as the first and 2nd overall players, which I feel are above Petey (or at least used to be). You are right about the draft class mattering, as RNH was a first overall, as well as busts like Yakupov. I feel like if Petey and Hughes were drafted first or 2nd overall, they would be solid picks, but a bit underwhelming for those positions.
  15. I like Petey and Huges, but IMO neither are equivalent to 1 or 2. I'd say top 5 picks, but not 1 or 2.
  16. And then didn't trade Schneider for Brad Richards as well.
  17. I'm looking forward to this game as well, as I think the Lions have a shot to contend this year.
  18. Trotz not signing with Winnipeg.

He's stepping away from hockey for a little bit. My feeling is that he'll take over a team midseason, one that he thinks he can turn around in a hurry. Detroit, Winnipeg aren't very good options for him. Winnipeg is over the hill and Detroit is still rebuilding.

My bet is that Sergei Federov will be named the Head Coach of the Detroit Red Wings by the draft. He seems to be the quiet favorite and has deep ties to Steve Yzerman.

Please Winnipeg don't hire Green. I wouldn't wish that on you....

  19. I've never personally liked Bear's game, but wouldn't mind him as cheaper depth.
