  1. It isn't the lowest, but it's the tipping point for me. Being born in Vancouver and falling in love with hockey thanks to the early-90s Canucks used to be enough for me to cheer for this team no matter what. Those things are no longer enough to make me look passed all the terrible decisions this current regime makes. I'm not going to root against them, but I frankly don't care about this team's success/failure any more. Time to move on, it isn't worth the time/emotional investment.
  2. Watching the Canucks play the Kraken on Wednesday is going to be like running into an ex while you're on a Tinder date.

  3. If I donate $100 to Canucks for kids, kids get $9. If I donate $11 to Boys and Girls Clubs, kids get $10 If I donate $15 to BC Children's Hospital, kids get $10 Edited out the dickishness of my reply
  4. Bo will be gone. Kuzmenko should be gone. Miller isn't a center. It doesn't matter that the players you listed are skilled if the players on other teams' rosters are levels above this, are younger, and are on better contracts. Kopitar Fiala Kempe Kaliyev Byfield Iafallo Danault Arvidsson Vilardi Doughty McDavid Drai Hyman Kane Bouchard Barrie RNH Lindholm Kadri Hubredeau Toffoli Magiapane Backlund Dube Eichel Stone Karlsson Marchessault Roy Kessel Smith Stephenson The idea that the Canucks are somehow uniquely positioned with offensive firepower is false.
  5. Half the proceeds got to Canucks for kids. 9% of that 50% actually goes to kids. That's literally what the link I posted showed.
  6. They do not have fire power. They have one elite forward (Pettersson) and one elite dman (Hughes). But take a look at who is ahead of them in the standings... they all have as much, if not more, elite firepower. And they especially have more depth. The only place the Canucks have depth is on the wings, but the problem is that this is the least valued position and too many of these wingers fill the same/similar role. The Canucks' depth on the wing is actually a problem. Improved structure matters. But in the grand scheme of things, if the goal is to be an elite team, improved structure does not matter if your depth still sucks. Winning significantly more games still won't be enough to put this team in the playoffs.
  7. You suggested that they have enough talent to be good. I can't disagree with you more. Will defensive structure make a difference? Yes. Will this difference matter? No. Actually, the better defensive structure will matter. It will help pull them into the bottom 10-13 teams in the league instead of the bottom 6-9. Great.
  8. If you're thinking of donating money to charity, reconsider donating to Canucks for Kids Fund: For every dollar you donate, just 9 cents will actually go to the cause. Your money will go a lot further to helping children if you look at more reputable charities. https://www.charityintelligence.ca/charity-details/532-canucks-for-kids-fund
  9. Don't publicly comment by saying things like "Bruce is the coach for now" and let it be known that you're actively pursuing other options. To be clear, I think Bruce needed to go AND I think it is smart to be proactive in searching for a replacement. However, don't drag things out in the media for basically four months where you openly question the ability of the person who is part of your team. Bruce was owed no loyalty. However, it seems pretty clear to me that what the Canucks' front office was doing went beyond "just business". As the head coach, Boudreau has to face the media basically every day. So every day he is in the firing line being asked questions about his job security and the people who supposedly are in leadership positions did nothing to protect him. Some could just say that the coach needs to suck it up and that he's being paid to do a job. That could partly be true, but if you have any designs on running an organization that attracts the best in the world, you need to have leaders who try to put people in positions to succeed.
  10. Aside from Edmonton and Anaheim, every team I listed in the Pacific Division has a decent systems coach. Anaheim will eventually get stronger and a good system with this personnel still won't beat McDavid and Draisaitl in a seven game series. This team is not simply a coach away from being good... or at least being the type of team that will bring a Stanley Cup to Vancouver.
  11. Rutherford admitted he underestimated how difficult his job is. It is a major red flag that the President of Hockey Operations was more delusional about this team than the majority of its fanbase.
  12. The truly don't. They have one top 4 defenceman and only two non replacement-level centers in Petey and Bo. They have a gluttony of talented wingers, the least valuable position in the modern NHL. Defensive structure will undoubtedly help this team. They will be a better team under a new coach. They will not be a good team. They will never be a good team until this organization stops trying to squeeze blood from a stone. If they continue business as usual this team will spend the remainder of Hughes/Petey's tenure as Canucks playing playoff-like games in November because this team doesn't have the depth to be a good team. They are the sixth best team in their own division and the Kings are only going to get better. The Ducks have one of the top prospect systems in the NHL.
  13. I've said it before, but I genuinely feel bad for the players. They are underperforming, but not by much. This team was never built the right way. Players are not put in positions to succeed because they're playing too far up in the lineup. The circus created by the front office has resulted in an impossible situation. This team doesn't need a rebuild it needs a factory reset.
  14. The Canucks' ownership is so incompetent they botched a decision that a month ago most fans would have been on board with, or at least understood. Even the 'right' decision is wrong because the process by which this organization does anything is fundamentally flawed.
  15. Horvat won't be traded to Seattle because Frankie is too much of a coward and would be worried about losing fans to the Kraken.
  16. Imagine going to dinner, having a server bring out your order, looking you in the eye, spitting in your food, and then walking away. The only thing more insane would be going back to that restaurant two nights later. Francesco is spitting in Canucks fans' food but people are still going back to his restaurant. This is how that Aqualinis run their businesses. We should not be surprised in the least that this is what is happening to the Canucks.
  17. We should not be surprised that an ownership group that has made its fortune from being slumlords and underpaying blueberry farm workers treats its employees and customers with such disrespect. This is what they do. This is their operating philosophy. An organization would be absolutely incompetent if they fired their head coach without first checking in on who was available and interviewing potential replacements. But, you absolutely do not make that public, especially if you're going to drag things out for months as Rutherford et al. have. Boudreau doesn't have a right to expect management to be loyal to him, but he is absolutely entitled to dignity and respect and the ownership and executives on this team have shown him none.
  18. LAK place Ryan Murray on IR and call-up Arber Xhekaj
  19. Growing up in Haida Gwaii in the 90s, I don't think there was a single athlete more universally loved than Gino Odjick
  20. How much money would it take for you to not care about the thing you are most passionate about?
  21. At this point I genuinely feel bad for the players. Year after year there is incredible pressure for a substandard team to make the playoffs. Unreasonable expectations and extended losing streaks mean that by November every game feels like a must-win. Do the players under-perform sometimes? Absolutely. But you create a terrible work environment that persists for a decade and of course you're going to get poor performances. This team is not built to make the playoffs but that doesn't stop executives from saying that anything short of playoffs is a dramatic failure. This team is getting to the point where Petey and Hughes are going to be too old to be part of a rebuild lol.
  22. The Pittsburgh Penguins have been struggling to score goals and are wasting Crosby's insane (for his age) 5v5 production. This team has a history of always going for it (how can you not with Sid/Malkin?) and loves is C depth (e.g., Sutter, Staal). Horvat can fill that 3C role and drive his own line with speed. He can also fill the bumper position on the PP, allowing Crosby to play down low and Geno on the half-wall. Depending on Pittsburgh's IR situation, Canucks would have to retain salary. This is probably necessary with any Horvat trade. The return: Owen Pickering. The Pens' first round pick in 2022 hasn't had a great start to his season in terms of point totals. However, 6'3 smooth skating dmen are hard to come by. 2023 2nd round pick. I truly don't think Horvat can fetch a recent first round pick AND a 2023 first round pick, especially given he's on an expiring contract. At least this time its the Canucks trading for a second round pick.
  23. LAK recall Chris Tierny and assign Tyson Foerster to the minors (No waivers).
  24. Yellowstone: 4/10 Holy crap is this show totally unaware. Totally cheesy/soapy/campy but thinks that it is Breaking Bad/Ozarks of the Midwest. There are definitely some good parts, but I just can't take it seriously.
  25. Unless I am picking first overall again... big brained that one.
