  1. I agree, but I think Van will ultimately pick in the 7-9 range… and I think Michkov will fall for the reasons you stated… but I also think he’s the 2nd best skill in this draft. Canucks will be meh until that point anyways… but u you’ll also get Michkov at prime on an elc, and allow for the team to invest in other areas… something to consider imo.
  2. I wouldn’t trade him in division. And not likely we see appropriate trade value for him at this time. Keep Thatcher until summer and hope he can rebound his value. There’ll be more suitors this off-season if he plays well and stays injury free… but I’d be fine keeping him. Just hope he doesn’t steal too many points down the stretch
  3. Hadn’t heard that. All I heard was setback and they were waiting on more news. Maybe it was minor?
  4. Demko had a setback last week. Last I heard team was waiting on report on severity. Would not be shocked to see him shutdown for the year.
  5. Seems like an easy case of trade and re-sign in offseason. That is what I’d be asking the agent about if it were up to me. Let us trade you for another shot at a cup, somewhere you want to go, then come back to Van on a 2 year deal, full ntc.
  6. Good player. Rough contract imo. But good for him! Moves much closer to his family and secures his future!
  7. Lol. I can’t believe we’re still talking about this player
  8. I remember listening to a podcast after last season, can’t remember the guys name, but he was very pushy with the idea that Demko should be moved immediately, and gave points on his health and how repeat knee injuries seemed inevitable with the trend that he saw. I found this fascinating with Demko being our best player last season, and where we’re at with a seemingly injury prone and ugly season in his limited viewings.. Could Management themselves be coming to the same conclusion and attempt to sell high (as high as the market goes for goalies)? …Before the he comes back and possibly lowers that value with inconsistent and/or poor performance? I can only imagine they would consider this move if they felt the wheels could come off for Demko or if someone were to overpay for what they consider a good gamble here. I myself really like Demko but if there is any time to shop him, the time is now.
  9. Trade Schenn for best pick offer. Probably an 3rd and b prospect and re-sign in Van this offseason.
  10. Don’t sign skilled wingers until you have depth at C without Horvat and a new D-core. Kuz won’t help us win unless that gets fixed first. I’m sick of watching this team spend on wingers. This won’t get us anywhere ffs.
  11. Why would anyone give assets to commit another 7 years of Miller? Servalli is right… Canucks would likely have to add to move this mistake and it’s just not going to happen. They will move/add/buyout Boeser/Garland/Myers before considering this option imo. The PR is just too awful to pay to move a ppg player they just extended.
  12. I tend to agree that there are good players to keep… but I think if you trade your team captain plus half the team, it’s a rebuild
  13. I think their idea of rebuild is trading assets for futures (picks/prospects), whereas the brick by brick retool would be moving assets for current NHLers when the opportunity presents itself. The reality is this thing has to be torn down either way.
  14. What a circus. Watch them do NOTHING and lose all their UFAs while trying to make the playoffs. What a joke.
  15. Not a fan of Hirsch. He makes it too personal too often for my liking. Love the human tho.
  16. Depends what he shows in practice. I don’t suspect he’ll have a tonne of ice time if he gets into the lineup. But I would think he may toy with some PP2 time in place of Dries.
  17. Lol. No. The number has to work. Too many long term implications. Van isn’t hamstrung from an offensive standpoint. They need better defensive minded players that are “hard” to play against across the board. A Kesler/Malhotra type. Bo has been amazing around the crease and plays the bumper spot well on the PP, but he is still not a great matchup option. Move Bo for a better 5 on 5/matchup/PK centre, faceoff wins or not. There is enough offensive talent to supplement his loss on the PP, and huge gains to be made if the club improves their collective GAA.
  18. I think his play has warranted a “look” to see what he is at the next level. If he can translate his goal scoring, it may allow Van to be more flexible on the positional return they want for Horvat.
  19. First off I believe that it’s both parties intention to sign an extension… BUT The Canucks cannot continue to invest in one-dimensional offensive wingers. (With Boeser, Garland, and Miller in tow). Another guy like Mikheyev may be a better investment as he is a strong 2 way player that can play all situations comfortably while providing above average offensive production, and top end speed. Only way I see a deal like this come together is IF VAN can find a taker for one of the aforementioned players, and then perhaps re-upping Kuzy, but I don’t see him being a fit for anything over 5M. Van has until the deadline to maneuver the cap and roster to make a pitch like this, and I do believe they WANT for things to unfold this way. However I’m not sure they are able to move Boeser or Garland off the cap, at which point I think it would be poor asset/cap management to sign Kuzmenko. Also, since Kuz is on a cheap contract, I do believe there could be some interesting offers for this player that can clearly produce on the PP and appears to be able to handle decent minutes at 5 on 5… absolutely no harm in continuing to give Kuz a great opportunity with Pettersson/Mik and #1PP time, building his trade value, and then flipping him for different assets that could help build the prospect pool/or filing a current void on RD, C, PK with a more defensive minded/matchup player should he remain unsigned heading into the deadline.
