  1. Pk Subban take is awful. He’s too focused on life outside hockey imo. Although I like what Calgary has done, I think it’ll take them some time to adjust… slow start here…. Where in Van, last years slow start destroyed the season, they won’t let that happen again. I know our D corpse is thin, but it’s not light years away from EDM, and we have better goaltending. I see all of OEL, Garland, Petterson, Podkolzin taking steps forward. Kuzmenko will hit offensively scoring 50-60 points. The group is faster, deeper, more mature and I think it’ll be better than how they finished under coach b. Also bet on Rathbone making a splash when called upon. Pacific prediction: 4 in the playoffs Edm Van LA Cgy —- Vegas Ana Sea SJ
  2. For me, they are living painfully with the mistakes of their predecessors. Patience is WHY they are different. Benning rushed the rebuild under whoever’s direction and Linden left because of it. This group is still a solid team that had a horrible start for many different reasons last year. PK was the number one issue of why they couldn’t win games… then Petey not coming alive until December. So what did they do? They went and got the fastest PKer on the market, and added another you guessed it, PKer C in Lazar… and oh yah they moved heaven and earth to land the most sought after European FA in Kuzmenko who may be a 60 point player as early as this coming season. What’s the beef here? We haven’t traded our best forward?! I know he’s nearly 30, but has anyone seen anything remotely look like drop off?… It looks to me like JT Miller is only gaining momentum. He’s only played top 6 since joining Van. Lots of top end years left in him. The Canucks will regret trading him, I am certain.
  3. If this is actually the new 3rd… gross. They should let the fans nominate 3 new looks, and let management decide from there. Year after year of bad design. Imo they should come up with a new scheme entirely. Like a grey/navy trim two tone jersey to rep the clouds and rain lolz. And for the love… remake the Johnny Canuck logo. It looks like a peewee logo to me currently. Or use the “V” patch as primary pls
  4. Ferland, Poolman to LTIR. Rodriguez and DeHaan sign one year deals. Miller Petterson Boeser O-zone faceoffs 1 Mikheyev Horvat Garland D-zone faceoffs 1 Kuzmenko Rodriguez Podkolzin O-zone faceoffs 2 Pearson Lazar Dickinson D-zone faceoffs 2 / shutdown matchup Joshua, Hoglander Huggy OEL 28 minutes / PP Dermott Schenn 16 mins / PK DeHaan Myers 16 mins / PK Rathbone Demmmmkoooo Can the season start already?!?
  5. If Canucks LTIR Poolman, waive Dickinson, and replace with DeHaan and Rodriguez… I’d be pumped with the roster
  6. They lost 2 top line wingers and replaced them with a better winger, a top 6 C, and a top 4 RD…. I’d say they’re further ahead than maybe sideways
  7. That goal horn is horrid. Like seriously trash.
  8. Well Eddie Munson did save the world by playing master of puppets in another dimension
  9. The best option for JT is to play all situations for the Canucks, have another huge season, and hit UFA…. I don’t see a world where he is a Canuck beyond part of this season. And honestly if he is back on pace for 90ish points, there will be a lineup for him at TDL… I’d like to see the Canucks as built have until Christmas. Maybe the likes of Myers and Pearson become desirable with good play, opening the cap for Miller? Stranger things have happened.
  10. So I’m trying to think outside the box and I think I have a decent win/win scenario and cap benefits. To BOS JT Miller (5.25) UFA 2023 Tyler Myers 3M retained (3M) UFA 2024 8.25 total incoming cap To VAN Brandon Carlo (4.1) UFA 2027 Charlie Coyle 1.1M retained (4.15) UFA 2026 2024 1st round pick 2023 2nd round pick 8.25 total incoming cap Boston is a veteran win now team with the right adds. JT Miller will pick up the scoring slack in the absence of the rat and will be the perfect persona to re-sign long term with the likely departure of Bergeron and Krejci after this season. Myers fits the Boston makeup on the back end, and at a more palatable price. He will have better matching support partners on LD and have opportunities on the PP behind McAvoy. The cap is an even swap for this season. Boston eats more $$ over term on 30 year old Coyle… a poor man’s Miller? Coyle has size, battle, 15 goals and 45 points in him. Right shot C/W that should fit well and a solid playoff get. Carlo being the trophy addition… Right shot 25 year old physical top 4 shutdown D. Canucks are desperate for this kind of player. Good contract with good term. Bruins add picks to pry Miller and ditch the Coyle contract. what say you Nuck Nation?
  11. For me it’s all about developing pairs. The Canucks can boast some solid forward depth here and it should be a strength against other squads. Miller and Boeser …proven chemistry. Big year for Brock Horvat and Garland …Garly pulls Bo into the fire. I like that! Petterson and Podkolzin …This could be an explosive year for both Lazar and Dickinson …ideally the shutdown pair Try to build the best chemistry in camp through different looks, but these are the duos I would start with. The Dickinson add is questionable but with the amount of the cap he’s eating and after the dreadful season, you have to see IF he can return to being a valuable defensive forward that wins heavy puck battles and relieves zone pressure for our D corps. He can also play any F position which adds in game value. Big IF, but I have a hunch he’ll play. My guess is the other four wingers to make the cut are… Mikheyev- solid complimentary anywhere Pearson- yes the veteran will play top 9 Kuzmenko- with Pete and Podzilla!? Joshua- truculence and PK Lockwood is my 13th F Hoglander is battling Kuzmenko for a spot… or he will have to show he can win puck battles, play smart, and kill penalties if he is to make this squad. I just don’t think he’ll do it better than Pearson, Dickinson, Joshua, or Lockwood.
  12. Edmonton will take the division. They’ve upgraded the same team imo. Better goaltending, Kane for the whole year… unsure of Klefbom status, but big addition to the back end if healthy. McD and Drai will lead the league in scoring again. Can you outscore the Oil? Vancouver. Deeper forward group, better PK, team speed, and aggressiveness with FA adds. Demko is the best goalie in the division and will have to be with no changes to the blue line. Pettersson prime to claim elite status. If they are able to minimize scoring chances through team defence, there’s more than enough scoring depth potential under Bruce’s offensive attacking system to make Van one of the top scoring teams in the conference. Special teams and health on the back end are keys to success. Calgary. Best depth on defence in the conference, and with Sutters systems… this club is hard to project with the overhaul of the top line, but I do think there’s enough depth scoring/checking matchups for this club to upset anyone in the league as they will play solid shutdown hockey. PP is the key to putting wins together here… but I suspect scoring goals may become an issue. LA. Healthy Doughty, Fiala addition, young studs prime to breakout…. Goals against May be the Achilles heel here… but this is a deep and young team with veterans that still lead the way. Goaltending should be the weakest link. If kids breakout, lookout! Vegas. Something about Eichel… idk. Subtracting Paccioretty will hurt the PP. Hit or miss season, but I don’t like the makeup of this aging/injury prone roster. Seattle. This team couldn’t score last year. They’ve added four top 6-9ers with Burakovski, Bjorkstrand, Wright, and Beniers. If they can get better goaltending, this team should be a far tougher opponent. Anaheim. adding Strome, Klingberg, McTavish, Vatrano… They should go streaking here and there, but lack of experience will hurt as the year moves along. can Gibson find his game? SJ. Train wreck season. No Burns, No depth anywhere. Decent top 6/PP will keep them in games occasionally, but I fully expect them to be at the bottom of the West. Overall probably the weakest division in hockey. But I think Vancouver can finish top 3 in this mix.
  13. When trade deadline approaches there will be contenders willing to pay the rental fee, especially since the cap will be easier to navigate at that stage of the season. Still expect similar return to Fiala deal, and I honestly don’t see Miller staying in Van. He’s going to test UFA imo.
  14. Tough season for Appleton. If he finds his previous WPG form… could be a steal signing.
  15. I honestly think this will be the year EP40 becomes apart of the elite group of NHLers. I expect 35+ goals and 80+ points. He will be a heavy heavy contract extension, and we would be wise to have that done in advance of RFA. If we need to walk on 2-3 of Miller, Horvat, Boeser, Garland by next offseason, get some futures/cap flexibility and build around Petey, Quinn, and Thatcher. The year after Myers and Pearson are done and we can play in UFA. Target date for this re-tool to be complete is 24/25 season. This is why there is little urgency in rushing deals imo. Benning screwed Vans cap structure with the Myers and OEL pickups and the reality is there is no rush with the core being still a ways a way from being mature enough to truly compete. …UNLESS Demko.
  16. …Love to see Motte back in Van… clearly he’s looking for term, but I don’t think it’s there for him given the landscape of top players eating the flat cap. I bet he’ll end up in Az/Sea/Ana or any other floor based cap team.
  17. I remember when Duchene took forever to get value… without the flat cap. At this stage if a good offer doesn’t come, I’d keep him until the deadline and move him regardless of standings. His value to the season should position the team well, but the goal has to be long term and I still don’t think you can commit that capitol to a winger. Dmen or C should be the only positions commanding 7+ And I think we are seeing the market move this direction… while Miller is good on the draw, he’s not a great C. JT is an all situation LW and should see 7M, but I wouldn’t give a penny more for any winger in the Chell. Collect your assets for him and try to rebuild the D/C depth!.. unless he’s willing to take the haircut based on how the market has unraveled.
  18. After a quiet draft in NJ, the Devils have been active in the free agent and trade markets. The goal of this build is to be a playoff threat for years to come. We feel we have come close to assembling a roster that should be tough to compete with, specifically with the depth accrued on the back end. We look forward to breakout campaigns for Noah Dobson, Cole Sillinger, and Filip Chytil! Behold the projected 22/23 New Jersey Devils Anders Lee - Cole Sillinger - Troy Terry Travis Konecny - Mikael Backlund - Alex Tuch Pavel Zacha - Philip Chytil - Rudolfs Balcers Dylan Holloway - Jack McBain - Givani Smith Adam Brooks - Morgan Barron - Henrik Borgstrom Zack Werenski - Drew Doughty John Klingberg - Noah Dobson Kevin Shattenkirk - Nick Blankenburg Urho Vaakanainen - Jacob Zboril Matt Robertson - Kevin Bahl John Gibson Karel Vejmelka Eric Comrie
  19. The Tkachuck trade is a statement for where the value of players are in this league, why players like kadri and Klingberg are still looking for long term deals, and why the value on players like Paccioretty and JT Miller are at an all time low… the reality that the flat cap combined with 2nd contract trend of being long term has the market upside down. The smart play is to hold onto your assets. I dont blame management for standing pat on player value and hoping a good scenario pops up… no reason to panic trade assets
  20. Are there any like… actual credible reports that align with this rumour? This is pure speculation because he is a RHD Swede that hasn’t signed correct? Dont get me wrong, I would fully support a move like this as Klingbergs primary skill set (skating/hockey IQ) generally age very well. I just doubt he’s “waiting on Vancouver” for anything…. Either they have a deal done or they don’t. If they DO, then I can understand why management would want the entirety of the summer to unload cap without having to give up assets under that kind of cap pressure… but instead waiting for teams to feel the heat moving into the season to explore options like a Myers for 2 years. He is far better than gudbranson who just got 4x4 because there were multiple suitors and RHD is the largest supply/demand position in the league. Canucks fans never see what they have in their own back yard. The fact that Tyler Myers is still a legit top 4 RHD in this league…. Not ideal, but it is the current reality.
  21. Idk… after thinking bout this… I do think there is a spot for Klingberg to contribute to the success of this team long term. Good skating IQ RHD. Not really concerned about age as his top attributes generally age quite well. If you can think the game and skate… you can contribute Not sure if OEL goes or stays, but if the canucks CAN clear cap…. I’d be just fine with a Klingberg addition
  22. Ouch for Calgary. Wow for CBJ. That PP gonna be all kinds of nasty.
  23. Yikes. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think Jack Campbell is a difference maker.
