[PGT] Anaheim Ducks at Vancouver Canucks | Feb. 16, 2020
Westcoasting replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
I hear what you are saying here but it is also an easy out as well. Remember all the years of Barry Trotz in Nashville and he was always in the playoffs and never went far. After a number of years people were convinced it was his fault. Players were traded but results the same. So they canned him. He goes to Washington and had the top team or close to top team in the league and then they lost to Pittsburgh. Same talk all over again about how he wasn't a good enough coach etc. Then the next year he won it all.... and Washington's owners were caught with there pants down and lost him as they didn't renew his contract. Then he goes to the Islanders and a team that was picked by a lot to miss the playoffs had an amazing season. So is Trotz the problem or does it just take that many years to get lucky and have everything click? How about Quennville... did he just benefit from the roster in Chicago.... cause he got himself fired and now he aint doing much in Florida. So how do we know if coach Green is the problem or is it Trader Jim has to boost the roster more? When is it the coach, when is it the Gm and when is it the players fault... endless -
Us who grew up playing minor hockey in the 70's definitely had fear from that incident. Always aware of where the stick was during play etc. Makes me wonder if over the years if that kinda fear was forgotten with full face shields etc.

Canucks will go exactly as far as the PP takes them.

This is the best post of the thread and is exactly what happens in the playoffs every year. Especially the first two points with health and goaltending! -
What are YOUR top 5 memories as a Canucks fan?
Westcoasting replied to Roberts's topic in Canucks Talk
so many to choose from but... 5. Geoff Courtnall overtime game 5 Calgary... the goal that brought back hope. 4. Trevor Linden overtime game 6 Calgary.... we might win this yet! 3. Greg Adams 3rd period tying goal game 7 vs Calgary. With about 5 minutes left the whole province erupted with cheers as the game was now tied. 2. and 1. Bure's goal game 7 and Burrows goal game 7... both amazing times and on to greater things. Greg Adams goal in game 1 vs the Rangers was another... right away i thought, "wow we are going to win this thing" Game 1 and Game 2 vs Boston... same thing it could have gone either way but after 2 games i was like "ok now we lead the finals by two games this time, now we are going to win this thing" lol -
Thank you! great summary

That wasn't career ending, he played the next game as well. I can't remember which game it was but Churla cross checked Bure in the back of the head and then those two were trash talking constantly. Wow what good times
-
Yeah i have a feeling Mark will get signed and eventually Demko will be traded.

How many games have you watched this year? Can you comment on Craig Button's list of top 5 Canucks prospects and it doesn't include Juolevi.

Canucks Playoff Odds
Westcoasting replied to Frozen Water Walker's topic in General Hockey Discussion
No doubt there, just look at this forum for example. Find someone who claimed they would be in the position they are now back in August or September... lol it doesn't happen. -
Would you like to see Kesler in the Ring of Honour?
Westcoasting replied to iBlueGreen's topic in Canucks Talk
Lol i remember his first few games and i was talking with friends and we all thought wow, those high snapshots are either going to ding someone in the head or his own teammates will ding him in the head after dodging all those shots! I can't remember where he went to next but then he did hit someone in the head with his slap shot!!! -
Fact for sure! Much like golf clubs and the effect they have on the golf game.

Canucks Playoff Odds
Westcoasting replied to Frozen Water Walker's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Odds makers are never surprised... the odds change for a team only after too many bets are placed on one team more than the rest. They want even betting across all teams so as a result of the Canucks record from middle of December onwards there must have been a large amount of betting placed on them and they change the odds to even everything out across the board. Right now the Capitols are the top team in the league but they don't have the lowest odds because more people are betting on Tampa. -
I don't know but unless one has been in the NHL or coached in the league, we are all sitting here guessing or relating it to our own issues we have gone through in life. Maybe Brock and TG talked and came up with the plan together... like i said its all a guess.

I had a picture on here a few years ago that showed Patrick Roy as a rookie, then as a member of the Avalanche... he was literally like twice as wide with all the extra over sized equipment on!!

Now we are talking!! Totally agree as someone who was around in the 70's i really believe he was the best goal scorer ever.
