  1. well i'm in bc we were talking about bc there are tent cities in many parts of the world they often have variable reasons for existing often they are poverty based central and latin america have significant populations who permanently camp but this seems to be distraction from the discussion about drug users staying in tent cities in vancouver dr. b and the government have cleared them due to virus concerns and you suggested they be moved, with their support systems, to somewhere else kinda like uprooting and moving a ghetto why? to move them out of sight? why ? you have discomfort with what you see?
  2. it's about priorities really protesting social injustice is a tad more important from a social perspective then most other outdoor social gatherings should we risk our health to attend a large group to watch a concert.. probably not but addressing systemic racism might warrant some health risk as doing nothing creates ongoing risk to those being treated unjustly (particularly when those groups seem to be at higher risk in relation to the virus) human life is messy hard to be pure about anything protests are a grey area that everyone should be free to choose about i applaud those who protest as well as those who stay home both care a lot about the best interests of society cheers
  3. there is no tent city it is gone i think you lack details on this issue and prefer to address is broad and a rather unthinking manner i get it, it's not important enough to invest the necessary time but then please, don't post on this topic
  4. that is because bc has done a good job you do understand that without proper management the virus could do real real harm it's not been a declared a pandemic to manipulate you or anyone else why do you spout nonsense suggesting that do you understand medicine? do you understand the dangers of new viruses for which there are no vaccines or antiboides in populations do you read history ? try researching a little about the 1917 spanish flu do you have grand parents? elderly people in your life? they are at high risk to serious consequences from this virus should they get infected but you are just a stats guy ? seems a bit of a sterile approach to life but that is just me common sense? why don't you move to quebec and follow the sense they have used regarding this virus
  5. your compassion and understanding of the plight of some of the most vulnerable people in society is outstanding do you know any of these people? most have parents, kids, siblings, friends, trauma in their lives.. . and other good stuff but yeah dead beats cool
  6. and you do not surprise me 9/10 of your posts or other responses are decent or better i notice and appreciate your presence on these boards thanks
  7. really ? cleared to where? do you realize all the support services are there? you wanna move people to areas where they are no supports ? i don't understand at all the knee jerk reaction posts put some thought into this stuff it is complex and really does warrant some simplistic approach better yet read dr. henry's report on this issue
  8. not true the government cannot impose those restrictions they can impose quarantine and modify it so it is a bubble group thing but once quarantine is serve and they demonstrate they are healthy they are just like you or i or anyone else in bc people are free the government has no cause or right to restrict any further the nhl however could bargain additional restrictions and will be negotiating these details with the players prior to any games being played i suspect the league will want a bit more comfort about health matters the biggest issue will be player families dr. henry seems to want teams to bring groups of less then 50 per team the nhl would want something similar but most can understand why players might want their young kids with them for me, when my daughter was young, i would not agree to anything that interfered with almost daily repeated contact so i would support players with young children bringing their families i guess we will see the terms of any agreement reached in the next month or so
  9. more nonsense from you how are these issues all connected ? hockey players are not essential they will bubble isolate as a group the restrictions are meaningful and will ensure health you just don't want them? why ? what is wrong with hockey ? record number of people are dying on the streets have you read dr. henry's report and recommendations on how to better manage this crisis do you know parts of it are already being implemented this is done through a method of defunding the police the police are no longer funded to enforce certain minor drug possession offenses and police are not permitted to attend overdose reports to ensure no one is afraid to report an overdose where drugs may be present you make a lot of noise on here wish you posted a bit of wisdom as well you are no rookie but you behave like a spoiled one sometimes
  10. thank you and can we please just follow the expert leadership dr. b has provided she is not a person there to serve our personal agendas she is a dr of medicine and is there to guide us through a virus pandemic just listen to her expertise and very clear calm messaging i have said from the outset that bc is a world leader on virus issues and dr. henry, as representative of bc cdc and other doctors, exemplified this in the past months let's get past the doubting and second guessing and follow her guidance and leadership early on a poster suggested that she was a no one not a true expert she was not on tv, usa did not know about her, she was just a local nobody well ny times does not agree and her record has been outstanding and as i said then, and as we have seen, she is the best expert for our local issues here in bc and i really do not care much about, or rely on, any other expert outside of bc thank you dr. b
  11. man you are a piece of work tell me if you can how many community cases actually are active and exist to pose a risk come on .. you are a sensationalist bc and dr. henry have done a great job your personal views (and agenda) notwithstanding do you understand anything about balance in risk management ? kids are harmed by not being in school risk has to be real to prevent a return do you plan to stay isolated for another 3 months? have you been totally isolated? or do you just want others to behave that way? or do you just prefer to live your life from sort of perspective of fear?
  12. ok marky is good he sure has upped his game in the last year and bit but sid? hart consideration? really? not very close in my view marky missed games in stretches (does not matter why) so the starter/back up rotation was not much of thing with this team marky started, marky was gone, demko was forced to start made things a bit tough on the back up they both got their share of games, but not the way any organization would plan and though marky was very good he lacked elite starter consistency his game, from game to game, is still a bit uneven anyway i suspect his contract expectations pre virus were likely around 5 or 6 years x 7 million i'd need to see him in a playoff run before deciding that this value can work for him he has played 0 games in the playoffs so far the metal of a goalie is not really tested until the playoff fires are experienced i like his development but he is a late bloomer if he shows now he is truly elite but better late then never, and has a solid understanding now of his abilities and style of play could forecast a nice 5 year run as a top end starter let's see his post season play
  13. my view (and i doubt it is worth a wooden nickle) miller-ep-toffoli (19 minutes) pearson-bo-brock (17 minutes) ferland-sutter-virt (14 minutes) ericksson-beagle-motte (10 minutes) next up: (in order should a player be required) gaudette, roussel (up first if ferland goes down), macewan though in the starting lineup, the bubble players are: loui, virt (please show up in top shape), ferland edler - myers/sttetcher (22 minutes) hughes - tanev (21 minutes) fantenburg - stetcher/myers (17 minutes) benn waiting in the wings and in a distant wing, tryamkin, assuming he gets signed, is in top shape, and shows immediate chemistry - otherwise he'll wait for training camp before hitting the ice in a real game marky in goal for 85% of games demkoo to get 1 game each series (except for the final - i know, a boy can dream )
  14. well that makes way too much sense thanks that explains the oddness about it
  15. pin that to your screen as a reminder and keepsake and since you overlooked my request i decided to go help myself anyway
  16. am surprised marky got ranked ahead of the detroit goalies they have had a stellar campaign well someone made an nhl list of players and nhl markets got triggered, feelings got hurt and damn, that list sure got a super ton of hits, response, and airplay i'm thinking the details on that list do not really matter they can do it randomly but they will always generate a huge response and yet they will have zero impact on any game played on the ice i had to go check the stats and i doubt jimmy is gonna be a vezina candidate (to be fair bernier played more games and had surprisingly decent stats given the team in front of him) Jimmy Howard 2019-20 DET 27-g 27 - gs 2 - w 23 - l .882 % 4.20
  17. 15.2 Calling a Minor Penalty - Goal Scored: If the referee raises his arm for a delayed minor penalty and the non-offending team scores a goal, the minor penalty is wiped out. Major and match penalties are still assessed, however. The logic of this rule applies in the next few instances. More obscurely, if there is more than one minor penalty being assessed and a goal is scored by the non-offending team, the Captain can decide which penalty or penalties will be enforced. 15.3 Calling a Double-minor Penalty - Goal Scored: If the referee is waiting on a delayed double-minor penalty and the non-offending team scores, one minor is wiped off the double-minor call. The double-minor is recorded, but only a single minor is served because of a goal scored. now do i get a cookie as a reward ?
  18. i don't agree your thread title is accurate you believe that a missed call screws a team that is not accurate a missed call simply presents an hurdle a championship team overcomes refereeing is not an exact science it does not impact a game or sport the way you appear to suggest there are multiple other variables that also impact and are present for most games to suggest one refereeing error is the sole reason is simplistic
  19. i am not sure but am pretty confident that pending minor penalties not yet called but in play before a goal is scored are erased by a goal being scored
  20. there has never been a perfectly reffed game in any sport at any level it is part of sport to know this and overcome this there are so many variables that can impact a game in a sport part of participation is to learn to be mentally tough enough so that you develop the character/heart of a winner while i do agree there is the rare game where real concern can be raised about reffing overall, these are very rare these complaints are raised so often and repeatedly particularly now that we have access to replay and digital video of sporting events from multiple angles that these complaints lose any value a ref has 2 eyes, we have video replay from multiple angles that we can replay in slow motion so that it can become obvious to us fans that the refs erred seems a little unfair to judge with that sort of advantage over a ref and this all begins to sound like sour grapes from fans of the aggrieved team
  21. ah ok so you are saying your posting is a byproduct of covid-19 too much time on your hands now ? cabin fever ? general boredom in the absence of hockey ? jeez, i hope you did not contract the virus and that you now have some sort of cluster set of symptoms which are somehow connected to your recovery of the virus that has somehow led to your need of posting online anyway.. just noticed you are active on here assumed you newly joined but any support or interest is what this place is for (though it helps your prestige here if you can be a bit anti leaf too )
  22. message a mod and they can move it for you so i have a question for you i see you have been on these boards since 2015 but my impression is you have only started posting more regularly recently why the change? and why is an ontario resident a nuck fan or posting on this forum? do you have roots here? what is the source of your interest in this team
  23. i said not 1 negative thing about tryamkin in my post you have a need to read something negative into my post my post was about how distorted this thread has been due to posters i intentionally made no comment about the player i believe tryamkin has potential we just need to see how much of that he can in realize in the nhl am not sure why my casual browsing of any and all threads on these boards requires me to either jump on the bandwagon of posting incessantly about the topic of the thread or simply shutting up this thread is present a lot more then most threads here i find that to be somewhat curious and a bit odd as so much of the posting has taken place when he was not part of the team i think my comments are relevant i can understand why you might be offended personally about my comments but deflecting them onto tryamkin is a bit short sighted (and fixated) on your part and so you have helped make my point about this thread and for that i thank you
  24. not sure how you can have this discussion in a meaningful fashion without knowing the financial frame work of the league moving forward the league will likely have a multi year static salary cap i'm guessing at a slighting higher level then current so that teams that have made decisions and plans based on the former state of the world will have a little wiggle room to work out, repair, correct, or refashion their approach and still be able to field a credible team (hello leafs, whatcha gonna do if the cap goes down even a nickle? - can you even field 6 nhl calibre dmen?) escrow will be used to shave proportionately all contracts if adjustment is required so that players salaries do not consume more then 50% of revenues over the course of the multi year cap freeze (players will get more then 50% in the initial year or 2) i also wonder if, only for the time period the salary cap has been made static, that teams will be permitted to borrow a million or 2 from a future year in the initial year or 2 of this cap freeze time period if a multiyear static cap is in place new contract salaries will be based on the cap not increasing that also removes for a time the salary boom expected by many (hello matthews) from factoring into contract values so it is then likely that salary expectations on new contracts will be a bit more modest players and teams will calculate risk based on their belief that the league will rebound nicely and that the new television revenues will be realized (players will seek shorter contracts that will be timed to when the salary cap is no longer static) or that this will not happen (and longer, slightly lower aav contracts will be preferred) every team will be impacted in the same manner (they already are in the same current boat of uncertainty) so nucks cannot unload contracts to other teams when they have no clue yet what financial framework is going forward either nor can they take on salary dumps in order to acquire more draft picks until a new deal / frame work is in place, every team has to assume the salary cap has to come down significantly to accord with the 25% or more of revenue loss that will happen this season so as things stand right now and no adjustments are made to the framework the salary cap should be somewhere in the 60 million dollar range next season and that could be a little optimistic (so what are the laffs gonna do?)
  25. i find this thread annoying particularly for it's many many pages of discussion about a player who had a fairly brief playing career with the nucks to date for some perspective i have quickly reviewed posting in this thread based on the phases of tryamkin's career development since the thread started i encourage people to review this thread on their own and point out where i am incorrect in my review breaking down the thread: page 1 - june 28, 2014, tryam is drafted and is now a nuck prospect, and this thread starts page 50 (or so) - january 15, 2016 - discussion starts about tryam joining the nuck team for the end of the 2015/16 season (the next 80 pages are about his joining the team that season, and some after that season discussion) page 132 - the first post on this page is june 3, 2016 page 132 - the next post is october 20, 2016 page 132 - post by Silent Sam on October 21, 2016 - is the last post in 2016, and tryam is still sorting out his conditioning issues before he will be back on the team roster and playing again this particular season page 132 - there is no other post during the entire season page 132 - the next post is on May 7, 2017, after tryam already left the team and signed in the khl page 132 - 545 - huge amount of discussion when tryam no longer contributed anything to the team this thread was crickets when tryam actually contributed on the ice to the nucks in the 2016/17 season there was nothing worthy of posting or discussion it seems am i the only one? doesn't this level of attention post tryam leaving the team feel just a tad distorted to anyone else? and i do know that there were discussion about tryam and his various issues in other threads but every player has a player thread (and also has other threads posted about a current issue impacting that player) go ahead and review any other important player's thread there is unbroken discussion about them continually go look at ep40, brock, hughes, edler - pick anyone and it seems if there is not that sort of posting it reflects the importance status of the player at that time this evolving narrative, that i see in this thread, about tryam's importance to the team seems to contain so much hype based on speculation and hope of some posters on here i simply find it baffling, a bit twisted and annoying
