  1. Yet another game where Canucks are dominating puck possession, but trail in game. It's getting old, lol I'm starting to worry about Luongo. The last 8 of 9 games, the Canucks have played the best d I've seen since 10/11. It's 2 weeks from December and he's still not playing well. After his poor season last yr and the garbage that happened to him this summer, i hope he can find a way to be the 'old' Luongo. This teams going no where if he can't find his elite status again.
  2. That's exactly why Tanev/Hamhuis should get Benn line. It's in then out just as quickly.
  3. Honestly. We need November Luongo now. And secondly, what the heck are Edler/Garrison doing out there against the top line? For the millionth time, it should be tanev/hamhuis. Ugh.
  4. Awesome! Canucks have had a million grade A chances so far
  5. Ryan Pyette ‏@RyanatLFPress 1h Horvat has a lot of tools in his toolbox. This Pyette guy was talking about how they use him in virtually ever d-zone draw (a la Manny Malhotra 10/11), PK, PP..... can hardly wait to see this guy in NHL.
  6. @RJHenderson7: "Apparently no Daniel Sedin on the ice for the #Canucks today at practice according to our very own John Shorthouse. No reason why as of yet." Better not be injured. Ugh.

NO!!!!! I have him in my hockey pool, this would hurt on two levels.

He might just be a bit worn out. Tortorella rests his players during practices to make up for the ice time.

  7. @TysonGiuriato: "#Canucks prospect Cole Cassels now has 23 points (8-15-23) and 35 penalty-minutes in 17 games. #CompletePlayer"

  8. Wonder how Kessels feeling after being embarrased by Burrows? #JohnScotted

Honestly, I don't blame Kessel for what he did in the John Scott situation. Although I'm sure if Scott had've got a hold of Kessel he wouldn't have used him as a human punching bag, but still Kessel couldn't have known that.

Kessel should know his place before he starts slashing around, he earned it.

      Mr.DirtyDangles

Scott is a dirtbag and Kessel in that moment was no better. they both deserved a 3-5 games. The hypocrisy of the NHL disciplinary board is of the highest order.

  9. Oh my goodness that is a steeeeeep price for a pending UFA and 30 yr old (who's rumored to want to sign with Minny). Youch. Good for Buffalo.

I really think Florida is the ONLY team in this league with the pieces to offer us every prospect ++++ basically for these two.

    4. Nicklas Bo Hunter
  12. WOW. Hertly 4 goals tonight for SJS. His 4th goal was a freekin beauty!

  13. @RyanatLFPress: Bo Horvat could do something special here tonight. 2 goals in basically three shifts so far.

    1. Warhippy

      Warhippy

good to hear, lets have a 2 way race for OHL mvp between him and gaunce

Yep. Would still be with us if Gillis had fired AV after 2010 like he should have.

  15. For the stats people, this explains alot about the SJS sweep: http://nhlnumbers.com/2013/8/29/half-season-team-fenwick-close

    1. Henrik Kesler

      Henrik Kesler

Not too surprising, but neat to see.

Also to note, the Canucks as a team have shot at a 4.1% rate the last 3 playoff series...no wonder goal scoring is a problem, the team shooting percentage has been unsustainably low

    2. Henrik Kesler

      Henrik Kesler

also, dear GOD Toronto is a horrid possession team...no way they make the playoffs after losing their two best possession players

      Clincher by Horvat?

  17. Further to my post above about Horvats WOWYs w/ Domi. Drance tweeted this article about quality of competition each faced in the CHL: Link to article Advanced stats in Jr hockey isn't as exact as the NHL stats, but this is pretty good work by the stats nerds. It appears Horvat faced superior forwards and defensemen each shift - relative to Domi. I.e. he was battling tougher competition. Too bad they couldn't filter zone starts in CHL, cause I'd guess Horvat started most his shifts int he defensive zone - Malhotra style. Drance suggested Horvat was kind of like 10/11 Malhotra, he ate all the tough mins so others (Domi) could eat some soft ones. Pretty impressive he scored 33 goals playing really tough mins. Edit: Also note Shinkaruk's stats are there too. Relative to Horvat, Shinny didn't face the toughest comp. He probably had a 'Horvat' on his team who ate the tough ones for him.
  18. For those who follow advanced stats: Matt Pfeffer ‏@MattyPfeffer 2h It's suspected Horvat played tougher mins than Domi - which could in part explain the vast disparity. But wowsa. That's a WOWY.
  19. Tyson seems to think Bo could have a shot in NHL next yr. Mark Song ‏@canucks0709 4h Tyson Giuriato ‏@TysonGiuriato 3h
  20. How does the Utica Comets twitter account only have 2,000 followers? Caman Canucks fans - embarrasing. Follow them :) @UticaComets

  21. @TEAM1040: "As of 10 minutes ago, pending free agents are allowed to speak with other teams but contracts can still not be signed until Friday." Gillis better be on the phone to Gordons agent
