He’s gotta have luck stored-up in spades after being vilified by certain refs, (Auger’s union bros), who narcissisticly favoured carry-over retribution for perceived slights while officiating, something wholly unwarranted & unfair. I no longer perceive the Vancouver Canucks to be struggling progressive outsiders,..now that they have a bonafide “insider” leading this team’s management group. The Canucks now possess their own popular narrative of how their young emerging-super-star captain Quinn Hughes, (member of the newest 1st family of hockey) is leading his long-suffering team onto new heights of success & threatening to overcome the longest SCup drought in hockey history. After witnessing the early success of several generously-rewarded US expansion teams down south, the Canucks & Sabres, deserve a little love & attention in compensation for the lack of generosity offered them, previously. Not to mention, compensation deserved for the atrocious officiating-bias the Canucks had to face, when VAN met perennial old-school media faves like the NYR (‘94), BOS (‘11) and the NYI dynasty (‘82) during SC-Finals past. Those on-ice officiating debaucles were suspicious, at best, in favoring the two league-hyped, Cup-starved & enabled O-6 teams in particular. If the Canucks have a season that puts them in play-off contention,..I sincerely hope the usual proven-to-be-suspect NHLOA officials, DO NOT make appearances in any series they play along the way, let alone during any possible SCFinal, in VAN’s future. Repeating officiating gaffs & misinterpreting or mishandling drama at this level, should be “disqualifying”, as it would be in any IIHF contest, where they seem to take eliminating the perception of bias far more seriously. The NHL, however, repeatedly states a “garbage opinion”, that it considers referees who have worked in more “complicated” games with “heightened drama” to be experienced! Hah! Those play-off games had more miscues, gaffs & controversy BECAUSE of the bias, poor temperament &/or incompetence of the officials involved. The most senior officials are NOT necessarily, the best! Sutherland &/or O’Rourke (or anyone else named Devorski or O’Halloran) are NOT entitled, by virtue of their seniority, to any more do-overs involving our ‘Nucks! Thank-you!!!
