Good game guys. You guys had some pretty good shifts, and our goaltender made a great save off a defensive mistake of ours.

You guys actually play pretty well. A lot of passing and you cycle in the offensive zone.

Keep up the hard work. Those 6v6 games are good experiences for your team. I think it's where people learn the most from.

courtesy of srsface on the art of D :emot-parrot:

-Off the rush, pressure them with pokes and slow them down so backcheckers can poke them

-On 2 on 1s, hit the guy that would receive the pass, if the guy elects to keep and shoot, not the Ds fault. The D's job is to take the passer

-Use R3 to tie guys up in front, hit them right before receiving an xcrease

-In the off zone, if you notice the opposing team steals pucks/pokes D right off the draw, the dmen should back up right after the puck is dropped.

-Only pinch if you have someone covering

-D should dump for Fs

-Shoot low for tips and rebounds

-Dump from def zone to clear zone if needed, forcing a pass isn't always good

Feel free to add more bunbun :emot-parrot:

Pretty much it, although a lot of players do have a problem with hitting the open guy when an xcrease pass is coming.

The only other things I would add are:

- If one D has the puck and you see he's about to shoot, other D man should be skating back a bit incase the shot gets blocked/poked. You don't wanna give up a breakaway.

- Against top teams, dmen should wrist low rebounds right away if being pressured by forwards. You won't get off a slapper or pass fast enough if their forwards are aggressive on you. You don't want to lose the puck to a top team. I usually only slap on PP.

- Tying up in front of the net is also useless unless you get body position. You have to be in front of the pass while tying. If you're behind him while you're tying, he can still shoot. Once you learn how to tie properly, you can tie + push people out of the crease.

The most important point which I try to get all the defense on our team to understand is that defense isn't about standing in front of the net and waiting for the other team to shoot. If you're standing in front of the net and no one is there, you're pretty much doing nothing. Find the open guy and cover him. It's everyone's job to cover 1 guy. If the other team's forward is off to the side a bit at the high slot and no one is covering him, it's your job to cover him. Top teams love that high slot one timer. Basically, everyone needs to take a man. Pressure, but don't chase. If the guy in front of the net is yours, tie him up and push him out of the crease.

It's not just defense though, the center needs to play defense also. He's responsible for the slot, or helping the defense at certain times. Wingers need to cover their points incase of one timers, especially if you're going to run a human goalie.

Pretty much it.

Good luck!
