dazed and confused is great too. really, 3 great choices. just depends on your mood

Non-Stop - 6.5/10

There's really not too much to say, other than it's not just Taken 3 in the air. It doesn't have a well constructed plot, but for whatever reason I didn't see a lot of the twists coming (I didn't know what the movie was actually about beforehand). Felt some genuine suspense at the beginning, but the movie as a whole tapered off towards the end (they went full on with the cheese)

It is almost entirely what you would expect from a Liam Neeson action movie. That for me makes it an enjoyable enough experience. If it doesn't sound like that to you, then you were already never going to watch it, lol.

Non-Stop: 7/10

It was way better than I expected, I didn't know too much about it but the twists were pretty good. From the start I kept guessing on who it would be but didn't get it right, also the ending got a little too crazy. Pretty good for what it was though, enjoyed some of that suspense.

Veronica Mars - 6/10

I watched an odd episode or few of the show when it first aired, but despite enjoying it, I was never a fan, or someone who bothered with the who/what/when/where/why of the overarching story of it all. It's not entirely necessary to be a fan to watch and understand the movie, but it's quite clear they want you to be one.

It was a decent mystery, but the interest, like with the show, all derives from watching her investigation process. Scheming for answers, and all that. Did not care for any of the personal stories that were going on though, and that includes Veronica's herself

The first half of the movie feels like it was being read directly out of a typical mystery novel. The latter half feels more like a large season finale to a TV show. None of it particularly felt like a movie. The pacing and tone were inconsistent like that.

I really liked the idea that a movie like this somehow managed to be made. After watching it I feel it wasn't a worthless endeavour on the part of the creators. Would be open to watching a sequel in the unlikely event it ever gets made.

Adaptation. (2002):

Another odd watch, but another good one. Charlie Kaufman writes another great screenplay, with his brother Donald assisting him. The film gives us an interesting look at writer's block and how difficult it is to write a screenplay. Nicolas Cage's performances, as both Charlie and Donald, are fantastic. This movie had me howling with laughter at points, whether it being the opening monologue or his agent's crude comments. Another ambitious and successful script from Kaufman.

Lego Movie - 8.5/10

I've seen the positive reception to this movie, yet it still managed to surprise me. I was never a big fan of Lego in general, and I really dislike those Lego video games that everyone else seems to enjoy. But this, this was something different.

It nailed the central idea of everyone having an inner level of creativity. It's exactly what the movie should have been about, and it was presented in a manner that really made it resonate. Basically against stagnation and bland/blind uniformity. It explored some adult political themes, but it was all in a way that anyone could understand them.

For a kid, it's the kind of movie that would get them thinking on a level that another kid's movie can't. A lot of it would fly over their heads, but with a second or third viewing, a lot of the lessons would start to sink in. It was simple, intelligent, and cute movie.

And I absolutely loved the ending.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit - 6/10

It was okay. Could've been better. Honestly should've been better. There have been a lot of more than competent spy movies that have come out in recent history. Some of the latest 007 ones. The Bourne trilogy. Mission Impossible 4. Others that I can't think of off the top of my head. It's been good. And Jack Ryan deserves better. That's not to say it's a bad movie, because I mostly enjoyed it. There's just a lot they could have done differently.

A lot of the movie progressing kind of relies on accepting the stupidity of another person. We're supposed to be watching some of the smartest people on this planet, so you'd think that people on both sides wouldn't keep making mistakes as they did. All that, plus a lot of things in the movie just simply did not makes sense. Some things require a suspension of disbelief, but others just aren't logical,

Jack Ryan is a good character, and I think Chris Pine does a good job with what he was given. I just don't think any of the cast was given much to work with. I give this movie a pass, but on almost every level it's just like Bourne Legacy. It just kind of passes at most things it does. It doesn't exceed them in any way. I think it's a pretty decent set up to do something in the future at least, if they decide to follow up on this movie.

Xmen DoFP - 9/10

Good movie, McCoy really made it for me, the moment where he was talking to Future Charles was magnificent.

Also every time they mentioned curving bullet, anyone else think of wanted? haha

End of Tomorrow - 5/10

This is a really bizarre film to review. Watching it is definitely an experience, almost a gimmick. Had Moore (director) received permission to film at Disney Land, the film would have lost its charm and would not have received the press it got.

So on that alone, it is actually worth watching. As one critic said, the fact that this movie exists is impossible. And when you do some basic research on the film, the filming methods used to get the movie made was truly impressive.

Now, the movie itself is very "B Movie(ish)." On rating it compared to other B Movies, it is quite lame. It is, however, worth watching simply because of the story behind how this film actually came to be.

Robocop (2014)- 8/10

I surprisingly enjoyed this movie a lot. I honestly this movie was going to be a complete wreck, but it exceeded my expectations. There a bunch if things that were off, but I sat there and watched the entire movie without wondering what time it was or anything like that. I have never seen the original and probably never will, but Robocop was really cool.

The Monuments Men - 3.5/10

What a stupid movie. It was poorly conceived and even worse so executed. A waste of time for all those that were involved with it.

At the onset I thought that the reasoning behind the characters actions was justified, and that simply trying to ensure that great art doesn't get demolished during the great war wasn't a bad course of action. Then the movie spent the entirety of its runtime managing to convince me otherwise. Particularly with all of Clooney's speeches. I don't know if they are supposed to be direct quotes from a non-fiction book, but either way they come off as arrogant and uninteresting. A story like this can be rationalized as a sub-plot in the greater conflict, but it feels like it's presenting itself as something greater that transcended the actual war. Or that the loss of art and culture personifies that loss of life. Or some crap. None of it works.

Nebraska 6.5/10

Quirky and "good" but not quite as potent as I was hoping for. Dern's good, Forte's ok, the story is interesting if the character's are a bit one dimensional...

Her 8.5/10

Really good movie. Movie had a great "feel" to it thanks to Jonze and Joaquin does stellar work in the lead. Good supporting cast as well. Fantastic cinematography and effects and the story is a fun, scary, warm telling of where we might be headed.

totally agree with Nebraska. Alexander (dre?) Payne's movies are, more or less, all the same, yet somehow some are way, way, way better than others. And there are always one or two really great performances, and a whole whack of questionable ones (I thought the children in The Descendents were horrible, thought Forte was really weak at times In Nebraska. Like the whole movie was done in one take). and I don't even really care about acting that much, but Payne's movies regularly feature legitimately _BAD_ scenes because of it

What are your guys' favourite 007 films? My personal favourite is Goldfinger, with Casino Royale not far behind.

My personal order:

1. From Russia With Love
2. You Only Live Twice
3. Skyfall
4. Goldeneye
5. Casino Royale
6. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
7. Goldfinger
8. Dr. No
9. Thunderball
10. For Your Eyes Only
11. The Living Daylights
12. Tomorrow Never Dies
--------------------
13. The Spy Who Loved Me
--------------------
--------------------
--------------------
14. The World is Not Enough
15. License to Kill
16. Live and Let Die
17. Moonraker
18. Octopussy (for the lols)
---------------------
---------------------
---------------------
19. Die Another Day
20. Diamonds are Forever
21. The Man With the Golden Gun
22. Quantum of Solace
23. From a View to a Kill

Have watched the movies in the top third multiple times each, and enjoy them all thoroughly. Would maybe watch the middle third if in a marathon of the series or something, but it's a big and immediate drop off between this and the first group (The Living Daylights >>>>>> License to Kill). Have no real interest in repeat watchings of the latter third.

As you can tell, I really don't like Roger Moore's movies at all. It's a shame he has made the most of them.

My favourite Bond Novel though was Goldfinger. Loved that book. Maybe it makes me more critical of the movie.
