UFCanuck
It came down to a choice between Vancouver and New York. He wanted to go the East so nothing we can do about that.
rampage
Meh. Not gonna say either way except I woulda done a similar deal. People here are too premature to judge. Remember the Cody who? comments after Kass had 5 goals? Remember when Steve Bernier (the great pwf) scored 2 goals on his debut after trade deadline. I wish we had Clowe but you can't judge the trade on a few games.

oldnews
What's on the record was that the offers were comparable and the decision was Clowe's, who is from Newfoundland and wanted to go to the East coast.

Trebreh
First, you don't know that. Second, if we'd offered more we would have been idiots, because the price was already too high. Oh whoopie Clowe has two goals now. Why didn't MG sell the farm?

gaydar
Just curious.. what do you think a powerforward like Clowe's value is if he's putting up 20-25 goals and 60-65 points?

oldnews
I don't understand some posters on here. Roy got 2 2nds and he's a rental yet that's a great trade (I think it isn't a bad trade just fyi), but a 2nd and 3rd for Clowe who is a premier power forward who can give you 20 goals a season for a 2nd, 3rd, and another 2nd if he resigns is "selling the farm". Trebreh
As a UFA rental, for a player who has had shoulder problems this year, has not been producing, and coming to a team that will need to trim 6 million in cap space? If he's producing...? He's a loss of assets for a guy we probably can't afford to re-sign. Too much rental potential there. I think Roy was more essential. I'm not that disappointed that the Canucks lost out.
oldnews
Grass is always greener. A healthy Booth is as good as Clowe - Booth has been maligned this year, but have a look at his underlying numbers and then make the case for a buyout.

cdubuya
1 goal in the 15 games leading up to the playoffs last year 0 goals in the playoffs last year 1 goal since the playoffs last year injury issues cap going down next year, canucks currently at that cap without having a full lineup signed ---- case for buyout
