hockeyking
That's like going to Banff and claiming you know all about Canada. Russia gets a bad rap cause its bad.

apollo
For anyone interested, here are a couple good (but quite long) recent articles (both from 2012) about life in the KHL: http://www.thestar.c...f_the_game.html http://www.theglobea...75535/?page=all Some interesting tidbits: So basically, Goalie Bob is getting offered $10 million per to play for Putin's team. No pressure there. And if things don't work out, Putin can always order his former KGB buddies to do a "buyout," KHL-style: Of course, KHL contracts aren't exactly "guaranteed" money, like in the NHL: And then there's the training camp:
CB007
He should go. The supply for good goalies in the NHL would decrease and thus better for us to deal Luongo, not necessarily to CBJ but just indirectly benefiting us.
BenDrinkin
I wonder how much of that 10 million he gets, and how much the Russian mob extorts him for!
thad
That would be unreal if he went there. Another door open for us.
Edlerberry
hahaha gotta love a salary cap that can be circumvented at the commissioner's discretion. Bettman would love it over there.

cdubuya
Between this development (I hope he takes the money and runs) and Kipper retiring we finally hit a stroke of good luck. The demand for goalies will be higher than it was last week. This is something that bodes really well for the future of our franchise. I really hope MG cashes in on one of our two starters at the draft.
Mike Vanderhoek
I would totally go if I was him.. 24 years old go home prior to Olympics, (solidify your spot as number one).. make 10 mil for 4 years. come back to nhl at 29-30 to a cup contender.. life is gravy!! Bobby_Lu1ngo
After the lock out and everything the owners put the players through I would take the money in Russia! Teach the damn owners this is what happens
canuckistani
I worked in Russia, Ukraine and Poland for a combined 15 months on a month on month off rotation and let me tell all of you right now, it is not awesome, sure there are nice places to visit but it is a horrible, horrible, horrible, place to live. There are nice places in Mexico City too but it doesn't make it a cool place to live.
Edler's Mind Tricks
This would be the first big lure, if NHL players keep turning down these crazy offers... Eventually the KHL should start to wane. As a fantasy owner, I really hope he stays.
