Silfverberg Snipes
Thinking of transferring to UBC next year and wondering how many other people deal with a long commute. I'm really contemplating whether I'd have enough study time if a one way trip by transit took 1.5 to 2 hours. Link to comment
Newsflash
Study on transit. Link to comment
Vapourstreak
Takes me 1.5-2 hrs to get to SFU everyday. I usually sleep or study on the ride. Link to comment
Newsflash
Impossible? Nah. A lot of people do it. Myself included. Link to comment
Newsflash
What time are you on which bus? I rarely get seats on the B line or Skytrain around 8 am Link to comment
:D
Move closer to the school? Plenty of peeps looking for roommates on the cheap. Link to comment
The Brahma Bull
Would you ever consider finding a place closer for school? I don't even like my 15 min commute to ubc. It might be a pain in the ass if you have really early classes. Link to comment
M A K A V E L I 96
Which faculty are you in? With some of them, you can get away with skipping classes. For example, in math / chem / physics / computer classes, all they basically do is read off the notes that they post online. I'm not saying skip all your classes, but on certain days, it might be worthwhile to just not commute if you live far away. Link to comment
Scottish⑦Canuck
I lived no more than 10 minutes (walk) away from the university every year that I was a student. My earliest lectures the last 2 years were 10am, so I didn't have to get up until 9 at the earliest. It was great. I don't think I could be bothered with a commute that long. Of course, I didn't study at home so I'm now completely broke Link to comment
Silfverberg Snipes
Hello. Just letting everyone see my pain. Have to get up at 5:30 M/W/F for biochem at 8. There's no way to get away with skipping that class and it's the only section. Need a roommate Brahma Bull? Link to comment
Canuckette_84
I've been doing it for nearly 4 years now, cloverdale to ubc... possibly the worst commute in the world. Driving I can get there in a little over an hour providing no one has stalled or crashed on one of our two fabulous routes (aka never), transit an hour and 45.... but I HATE standing on a crowded bus after working all day so I prefer to drive. Either way it blows getting out there so, good luck to you! Link to comment

:D
Why do you people live so far away from your school? Link to comment
themcdeal
If you're not working, it shouldn't be a problem. I work 20 hrs in the week, have 4 courses, play sports, and have a gf that lives 30 minutes away I still manage to do well It really sucks during exam time but I don't think I would be able to do all that if I had to make 2hr commute to school Link to comment
